It is seen as a devastating blow against Hamas' leadership.
The assassination of its political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran raises the prospect of an all-out war in the Middle East.
Haniyeh was in the Iranian capital to attend the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The attack came hours after an Israeli strike on the Lebanese capital Beirut, which Israel says killed senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr.
How will Hamas and Hezbollah respond?
And what does all this mean for the war on Gaza and the risk of a broader regional conflict?

Two takes: 1 Iran has serious security shortcomings 2 Israel clearly doesn't want to negotiate at all.

I don't think that a cocky person like Netanyahu needs green light from USA to attack anytime and anywhere, after the hilarious welcome @ the congress !!!
  • I keep hearing that the US and Israel does not want an escalation, but I feel Iran is more bark than bite.
  • When Israel said, all Hama's are leaving dead, you thought they were playing
  • Ibrahim Raisi and Ismail Haniya did the same mistake of traveling outside their safe zones. We should learn from our mistakes. Never underestimate your enemy

  • Apparently mossad can do whtever it wishes in teheran where is iranian security ? If mossad put their headquarters in teheran the iranians wont know....

Iran has always avoided directly joining the battlefield, and more hopes to cultivate proxies to fight. While Israel has been violating Iran's bottom line and wants to expand the war to force the US to join, let's see what Iran will do in the future?

It shows that israel was never serious about a cease fire or having peace in the middle east. Their actions expose their true motives.
