We so often hear of mining asteroids, but the Moon outmasses every known asteroid combined dozens of times over again, and is closer to Earth too. So what would life be like mining on the Moon?

I can't be the only one who wants a sci-fi series from Isaac that takes us from 2030 to 3000, exploring the progression of technology and society.
  • @InquisitorThomas
Nah. Everyone knows the Moon is going to be colonized by Whalers.
  • When will we have a camera on the moon facing back at the Earth so we can all see our planet in HD real time???
  • Honestly I don't understand the amount of content you produce. Sfia and JMG were my first channels I found on YouTube. Thanks you. Thursday at 8 am for over 8 years you have been there
  • Isaac, if you're tired of "Whalers on the Moon", maybe you'd rather get "Moon Miners" by Diana Gallagher Wu stuck in your head: Lunar twilight, dying day Shadows linger on as sunlight slowly fades Darkness deepens as night is drawn And it's so very long until another dawn A lunar miner stirs in her converted canister Rubs her eyes and glances at the time Another day, another shift - Tons of rock to dig and lift - Moving 'dozers through the shallow lunar mines 4 AM or noon, makes no difference on the moon, Clocks are just for keeping schedules defined The rugged miners claim A man can go insane Seven days of darkness and seven more to go And midnight madness mars the beauty of the stars One night is forever, Luna turns so very slow Then a hundred pairs of eyes Are drawn to the skies Scanning the horizon, anticipating Earthrise Eighteen months a tour, lunar miners must endure Many hardships, the work is never done A hundred hands, no more, Mine a million tons of ore Every year, to tame the power of the sun But somehow, they survive, Their spirit kept alive With hope of the future and a dream of Island One Lunar sunrise, darkness wanes Cold and gray, dawn crawls across the plain Blinding glare glistens on the crater rim And it's so very long until the sun goes down again And it's so very long until the sun goes down again So very long . . . Until the sun goes down Several different versions of it, most of them recorded by Wu herself, can be found on YouTube.

Good bread and butter video on futurism to chew on. You make the coolest friends now and I seen many types of lawyers but not space lawyers yet. Also appreciate the Svarog reference, liking reading up on Slavic myths and folktales too.

I liked this episode (as usual), but whilst legally things about resource collecting in space is still uncertain, a requirement to be actively using an area to have a claim on it won't necessarily mean you have to have people there as opposed to just automated or remote controlled robots.

If I could get hold of a spaceship I'd already be there.

I'm glad you mentioned the whalers on the moon, because it starts in my head any time this channel says "___ on the moon. "
  • @Cmdtheartist
They will definitely called Lunatics. Or Loonies.

Here's a song about Moon Miners that can be sung to the tune of "The House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals.....We’re the moon miners, digging in the dust, Searching for treasures, in the rocks we trust. With our helmets gleaming, and our spirits high, We’ll carve out a future, beneath the lunar sky. Chorus: Moon miners, reaching for the stars, Turning dreams to gold, beneath the cratered scars. We’re the pioneers of a brand-new age, Writing our story on the lunar page. From Earth we journeyed, to the silver sphere, Leaving behind the blue, for a frontier clear. In the silent darkness, our machines hum, With every strike we make, a new world has begun. Chorus Building our outposts, with our hands so bold, Mining the regolith, for the precious hold. We’ll plant the seeds, for the dreams we share, In the dust of the moon, our legacy’s there. Chorus So raise your voices, let the anthem soar, For the moon miners, and the dreams we bore. In the silent void, we’ll leave our mark, Guided by the light, from a distant spark.
  • A surprise Sci-Fi Sunday episode. Nice to see a revamp of this one.
