Wallis & Camilla: The Royal Outcasts

Published 2024-06-28
Wallis Simpson and Camilla Parker Bowles had few differences when it came to be accepted by the British Monarchy.

Wallis was judged as a scheming seductress who tore the Royal Family apart, or the most maligned woman in modern history. Camilla, the woman for whom Charles risked everything? Why did her relationship with the King mysteriously falter? And how did she go from being the most hated woman in Britain, to a Queen?

This Royal family has been a royal mess from decades, still they think they are better than everyone. Sad.
  • In my opinion, at least Edward abidicated. He knew deep down he didn't want to be King, and certainly without having Wallis as Queen. The Queen should told Charles to take himself out of the ascension line if he truly wanted a life with Camilla. He had a beautiful wife in Diana who loved him, and if he wanted to be King and the position meant so much to him, he should have dedicated himself to keeping his marriage intact After all these people are over the Church of England. Edward wanted the HRH title for his wife, and the Queen Mother and Elizabeth declined, just as they did for Diana. Charles did ask, but the Queen said no. When Charles went to visit his uncle before Edward died, he saw how sad he was. A twist of fate made Elizabeth Queen when she was not ever intended to be.

I really wish when they tell the story about Charles and Camilla that they would tell the truth and mentioned that Camilla was on a seven year campaign to become the bride of Andrew Parker Bowles. And when Charles. went to see, she got her man- Well, at least in marriage End of story. Stop trying to rewrite history!! There are those of us who remember it well
  • Camilla, hard work!!!! She was known as the laziest woman in the UK. Now she doesn’t have to lift a finger, only turn up. Even that was too hard as shown during the Australia visit. It was too hard for her so she caught a plane home and left Charles on his own for days to continue the tour. Camilla was also know to be dirty. One of her friends said that she would ride the hunt and then go home and put a ball gown on without a shower. Another said that you could not look at her without wondering if she had changed her knickers for days. Yes Camilla and Charles should have married, they are good for each other however in the process a beautiful good woman was destroyed in the process. Without Diana how long before Aids patients be accepted into society rather than being ostracised? Would Camilla have amongst land mines and brought the tragedy of them to the world’s attention?

Wallis didn't love Edward she loved her second husband. Letters were found. She loved the attention, the way of life. She didn't want Edward to abidicate because she would have to be with him for the rest of her life. A married woman who was Edward's mistress. She was a wild woman. Don't try to make her a saint . Those times were different to the present. You are talking about Wallis as if she lived in the present. Times have changed. Edward's dad knew that Edward would not Be a good king. Edward didn't want to be King . Good excuse not to be King Wallis played with fire and got burnt. Edward wanted it his way.

My goodness, the struggles of these two couples is quite striking! A great deal of turmoil caused by couples trying to navigate public opinion.
  • @keetahbrough
How they abused Wallis and Edward, for their love, is how they SHOULD be handling Charles and Camilla, because c&c are corrupted.

I have always said for the Royal Family it is only about each individual of the Firm to have what he/she wants & no one will stand in the way. I lost all respect for Queen Elizabeth II when she gave in to accept Camilla and gave her the Royal title Queen Consort. This is the woman who destroyed her son’s marriage to Princess Diana & gave Charles permission to lie about it.

I've always felt that Wallis, in her own way, helped save the monarchy by sacrificing her relatively happy marriage and tying herself to a man she didn't really love. Whether that was her intent is another issue altogether, but she runs circles around the duchess of dogfood, who is little more than a gold digger on her best days, and a low-down grifter on her worst. And Camilla is the Queen Consort, which was what Queen Elizabeth II wanted, which makes her vastly superior to either of them.

Diana filled the bill of protocol, but incompatibility loomed!!
  • I wouldn't consider Camilla the tramp an outcast! If anything she is the luckiest side-chick in history. 🤔

Camilla and Charles should never have broken up families. They are bad examples for people and do not deserve to be king and queen. They should have skipped Charles and give the crown to William and Kate. Camilla and Charles do not have any personalities. Charles is rude and selfish and jealous. Camillais like a confused mouse and acted like a harlot running after a married man while still married. What example is that for your children?

I think as I've aged my views on all "the other/or not" women has softened. History has proven that when the Royal men misbehave or go against the Royal "norms", the women they get involved with become the scapegoats. As long as the couples are truly in love, like most of us in loving relationships, I do feel everyone should step back & not judge too harshly. I am not a hard no on Harry & Meghan either but I do feel Harry sh*t on his family & I don't see how those relationships will mend. It's still possible because all but William have harmed their family relationships with their actions in the name of love & their own perceptions on what went wrong & who is truly the guiltiest parties. Harry should have been seeing a professional counselor young.
  • Charles and Camilla were in love when they were younger, but their families separated them. Andrew Parker Bowles ..married.Camilla whilst Charles was on Naval convoy duty.
  • Elizabeth would still have been queen even had her uncle not abdicated, simply because Edward's marriage to Wallis did not produced any children and hence, no heir. That lineage would have been pass down to his brother George and eventually to Elizabeth, upon his and George's death. But the fact that Edward only died in 1972, would have meant that Elizabeth would have accended the throne much later as compared to 1952 when her father pass away.
  • @LynnJung
I still have NO respect for Camilla.
  • @honestea1828
Meghan is the better comparison to Wallace. Camilla was never outcast from the Royals. Quite the opposite in fact.
