I always liked in 3rd act where the movie tricks the audience into thinking that Metro Man returned but was actually Mega Mind in disguise. And how by the end when the city recognizes Mega Mind as a hero, Metro Man remains anonymous and is happy for him
-
Another way Megamind isn’t really that bad, he never seems to critically hurt anyone. No murder until Metroman’s “death”. And even then, he seemed legitimately shocked. Then he mourns Metroman’s death and even seems to be in a bit of a depression.
-
Megamind is aging incredibly well and just feels more relatable than ever.
-
Megamind:”AH! GET BACK YOU SAVAGES!!!” Roxanne:”It’s fine he’s just not used to positive feedback.” Underrated scene
-
This movie is criminally underrated. You mean to tell me that a movie about happy trolls and a movie about a talking baby in a suit gets more recognition than Megamind!
-
To Hal fits a certain quote from Abraham Lincoln: “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
-
Ah yes, Megamind: The Villian, the Hero, the Subversion, the Meme

Megamind and despicable me both came out in 2010. Both about villans who become heroes. I really like despicable me but I’ve always preferred Megamind. Even as an 8 year old, I understood and connected with Megamind more and I loved that it felt more emotionally mature and grounded in reality…despite featuring two aliens. In despicable me I could never get past the fact that police never noticed his giant rocket car or whatever the heck it was 😄

Wish there were more villains like Hal. He doesn't understand the word no, he's shown as a villain, and he's treated as such. If that happens, almost every time is the character praised. And the thing is, I can't come up with an exception besides Hal.
-
This is the first superhero movie I'd seen in a long time that treated the lone, geeky, under dog of the film as a villain. In any other film Hal probably would have been the hero but instead he's creepily realistic. The misunderstood loser who gets the girl in the end is such an overdone trope at this point that I'm sure many were genuinely surprised and probably made a bit uncomfortable when Hal turned to villainy. Most superhero stories prove anyone can be a hero but Megamind proves that anyone can be a villain.
-
Hal had to be the best written "ahead of its time" characters ever. I don't think I've ever seen a character like that who reflects such an ugly side to humanity and one who was called out on years before it started to arise on mass.
-
I've read the original script and it was much darker and cynical. Jonah's character, Hal, was originally was shown from frame one to be a sleezbag. Everything else was quite similar on every other character front. Obviously Will added a bunch of him to the role. It's a really different but great script to read.

I always loved Megamind as a kid, and now I know why. It treats you like a competent person and it's here to say something. There are layers to the story that I don't think I've seen replicated in another "kids" movie. The amazing comedy doesn't hurt either. There are complex ideas and you can tell it exists to make you think, and I picked up on that as a small person, even if I didn't realize it at the time. Kids are smart so we should feed their brains nutritious stuff!
-
I really liked how you got to show how the dangers of the "Nice guy's" trope that might be overlooked in this movie. That even though it's a kids movie, there is so much to learn, with just the characters, and even more with the story.
-
God, I love movies where the “nice guy” is the villain
-
I absolutely love Megamind and how it handles it’s story and messages. It showed you don’t ever have to be whatever the world decides for you only you can decide who you want to be. It’s how Megamind could become a hero because he already was a good person at heart and by showing others empathy understanding and care he showed them that he has the heart of a hero. It’s really incredible how well handled the film is in general. As Megamind himself says it’s in the presentation which Megamind excels at.
-
As an omen of the MCU and the superhero genre as a whole, Megamind somehow remains timely and timeless, acting as the self-prophetic deconstruction and critique of what would follow in its wake
-
I really like how throughout the movie, (and in this video) you can see Roxanne's dress turn from red to purple to blue as she catches feelings for Megamind.
-
Hal is a good demonstration of lust and it's differences with love. Love is an ocean that gives, Hal doesn't want to give anything to Roxanne. He lusts for her- he wants something from her- and that's it. He thinks the only thing holding him back is power. He lusts for power, he lusts for MetroMan's power.
