My best memory with this game was going to a friend's house while he had a large section of his family from China visiting. Most of them didn't speak any English we could understand but at one point one of our friends in our group took out his DS and started up Mario Kart and suddenly at least 5 or 6 of the Chinese relatives also whipped out DS units and we suddenly had a full multiplayer race going. Mario Kart DS is the true universal language.

Fun fact: before the humps on DK Pass, there's a little hill with an item box that gives you a guaranteed triple mushroom, star or triple red shells, no matter what place you're in.

My dad used to use my ds while I was away and unlocked all the levels for me. He told me this at 22 and was the most heartwarming thing as a gamer I've heard.

Graduating high school next year, this video means so much to me as I remember waking up early to sneak my ds into my backpack just to play Mario kart DS with my friends on the bus. So many childhood memories with this game
