He's right about the difficulties of being a musician on YouTube now. I gave up trying to play in live bands because it was such hard work and they still never got anywhere. So about a year and a half ago I decided to make myself an online presence as a musician instead of in the live circuit. But I came to YouTube about two years too late for that. YouTube's ten minute thing they have now is awful. Quantity over quality. So many of the new YouTubers coming up with all this boring, repetitious, unimaginative, contrived and just plain stupid drama channel stuff are able to exploit it, but I can't unless I start writing 15 minute epics that people would get bored of anyway and wouldn't listen to. And would take months to write anyway, no way I could do that three times a week. It takes me a month to write, record, and make a video for a five minute song. I've decided I have to do other material than music. Maybe I should start bullying people, the YouTube algorithm loves videos that do that.
