As much as I love the Pro/Cat 1 Races, Cat 4/5 is a different level of entertainment to watch.
  • Suprises me the power required to compete in cat4/5.......I would need a cat10 race :)

I had a knee injury all season this past year but I’m all healed up and ITCHING to start winter strength training and running again. Next year is going to be my best year yet 😈 thanks for keeping my fire burning, jeff!
  • Go watch a cat 4/5 cyclocross race, which should be for beginners and novices (less than 3 years racing cross) you'll find it full of masters racers with 5, 10+ years of racing cross but don't or won't race in the "open" masters because they're afraid of starting on the 8th row and getting lapped. They love to finish top 20, instead of the 58th they'd earn in their real category. These are good racers who lap the real beginners, they should be ashamed of themselves. This is usually not a problem, but at a race like Tree house CX or NOHO (new england) where the 4/5 race is the first to sellout (100 spots), how many true newbies don't get to race because some poser is afraid of the "big boy" race?

RIP my orange Allez 😢. All things considered, still great memories of that day!

Call me crazy, but I don't think teams should be allowed in the lowest category.

What's the most common helmet used for crit racing?

ope bro in the thumbnail was only 16 and also a cat4 😭

Doubling up back-to-back in a crit is gluttony for punishment, but when it's like $10 for the second race, why not? I prefer to pin the second number on a fresh jersey so I'm marginally less crusty. Stash a bag in the pits with jersey #2, water, and a gel, and you're nice and warmed up for the second race. https://youtu.be/wOUAl_7FQ7s?si=oHtlGBx9bjkuL7pP&t=70
