Dashing through the snow on a cozy warm and comfy train is Railroad Heaven. Thanks for allowing me tag along on this quiet and smooth as silk overnight train ride.

Finland is such a wonderful and underrated place to visit in Europe. We rode the allegro a few years ago, absolutely fabulous
  • The attention to cleanliness was first class. Really like that. The toilets and showers looked very well fitted and roomy. It all looked an excellent service. Seriously impressed.
  • Very impressive cabin and the ensuite even more impressive. The whole train is well designed.

As part of an Interrail holiday, I did almost the same thing as you although my journey was in middle March. I took the later sleeper from Helsinki to Rovaniemi (2313 departure) and that arrives at about 1120 or so. I had the meatballs in the restaurant car and then a beer and some coffee, all of which were excellent quality. I also took some breakfast in the morning but I was on the later train. I also slept superbly in my sleeper cabin and had a deluxe en suite cabin as well. I think I managed almost 8 hours but I was so excited (60 years old!) to do the snowmobile drive through Lapland Tours in town. So enjoyed it an the fastest I managed was 58 km/h but don’t tell the instructor! I returned the same day in the 20:57 sleeper for Rovaniemi and alighted at Tikkurrila as I was taking a flight on to Warsaw. The restaurant at the station which you briefly featured served me a really huge Pizza and some coffee / beer again and I was so full I got on the train and just crashed out. Again the VR sleeper was superb and I had a great nights sleep. Finland is a hugely recommended country and prices are not as crazy as anyone might think, they are really around the same as London (or sometimes less). I hugely enjoyed my trip and would say to anyone to do it. Those VR en suite sleepers are just amazing!

I have been to FInland many times and loved it!! I never did a sleeper train there but I used commuter trains there. However I did take many sleeper trains from Moscow to Helsinki many times and it was just great!! Very comfortable. - I have been to Helsinki, Espoo, Jyvaskula, Tampere and Turku as well as Vannikalla

This was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable rail travel videos I have ever seen. The videography and ambient sounds were exceptionally well done. I did not want it to end.

That's an amazing train! Definitely love the livery. The rooms look really comfortable, the dining car seems really good. All around a great service. Thanks for sharing this review

Hello from Canada. I enjoyed your review and unlike many other videos on the Internet these days, it was very positive and made for pleasant viewing. Obviously this carrier is making an effort and is trying to provide a fairly priced choice for travellers. Even the food cost was reasonable. Good for them.
  • Finnish railways are great, really enjoyed traveling with them, also very affordable in the otherwise expensive country of Finland

I see that you missed the six finger hand on the Restaurant Car's door XD [EDIT] When I was in the Navy doing my military service. -25C out and windchill at -40C that was a lovely day to be outdoors. Perhaps that is why I get asked IDs whenever I get some alcohol products
  • If that was the UK with that amount of snow you wouldn’t have left the station, mmm unless it was the right type of snow instead of the normal excuse ‘it’s the wrong type of snow”, great post and as usual I’m in heaven with sleeper trains
  • @samtrak1204
Arctic trains in Finland and Sweden are off the hook. Thanks for the ride.

We used to travel a lot on VR sleeper trains when I was a kid. I don't know if they've completely removed the third bed but all the rooms had three beds stacked. One of my most vivid memories is falling from the middle bunk in the middle of the night on my mom's glasses :') For the rest of the trip I had a bump on my forehead and my mom had to survive with contacts

I’ll be there for the first time in about a week. Can’t wait!
