That particular tavern interior in the clip was 100% convincing in the series. When I first learned it was a projected interior, I was completely gobsmacked.

This is so cool, thanks for keeping up with the interviews! I'm so glad miniatures are still a thing in movies.

This proves that practical/miniature effects are still around and CGI will never replace it entirely.

Best continuing series of interviews on YouTube for those deeply interested in moviemaking, miniatures and effects.

That ‘common house’ miniature set is just incredible. Thank you for doing all these interviews!

Great interview, as always. Thank you for producing such interesting and in depth documentary episodes.

This is such an interesting workflow. You get all that hand built and organic feel at a speed and cost that no doubt outperforms a pure digital workflow. And you even get to see it as it’s built and make changes on the actual elements all the way up to scanning. It’s great. And you can always make changes and re-scan or just touch it up in digital. Those canyons I remember looked especially good!
  • this has to be hands down my favorite channel when it comes to movie models/miniatures for the simple fact of the history of the builds is told in the interviews . each one tells a story of adapting an out of the box thinking that comes with this sort of work .i pass each one along to groups on facebook an they do love them as much as i do well at least i think they do . i look forward to your next video .

Fascinating. Every time I learn something new and surprising. Thanks!

Very, very cool vfx company...love this stuff!!

Would never have guessed that was a miniature. The ILM "Volume" is amazing that as a viewer I can't tell if they're in a set or on location. Glad they're still using physical effects, as they do look fantastic.
  • Thanks for sharing the pics of the miniature. Really beautiful work. Great to see them. I designed the set up in SF and never got to see this until now. Bravo!
  • @COSMICAMISSION
Brilliant work! Had no idea that set was from a miniature scan.
  • @griptopia
brilliant stuff, it's a real transition from how it used to be to how it is now.. thank you for making this.

Dave! So glad to see him doing well and still building. Back at GVFX I remember him building (in his spare time) a replica of Boba Fett's blaster for ...a nephew (?), might be remembering that wrong, who was creating a costume. It would be a kickass piece when it was done.
