Interesting but that pump looks smaller than a Bosch 010 , thats what I used to replace my factory pump. Flows a good amount more compared to factory

Hi Nice tutorial and car. I have at this moment problem with 2 erros on my xfr: P007D and P0238, Do You have any idea for an issue?
  • I have plans on installing an intercooler assembly in my SSEi and have been looking at the pump. I deduce these pumps are brush type DC motors and have a failure history. Without mentioning any supplier names there is supposed to be a specific life expectency on them. Obviously the shaft seal is going to be an issue but as with the seals in engine water pumps, they usually last a pretty long time. They can be made to last longer with filtration and maintance of the system, however those brushed motors are something we can't do much about aside from replacing the brushes but I haven't seen anything pertaining to that topic, just R &R the pump. It seems to me a brushless motor is in order here with ball bearings and a well sealed housing. That would require a pretty hefty DC to 3 phase converter circuit installed in there. Who really wants to work with or install a cooler system that has to run constantly as the engine is running just to have to continue spending money on pumps and motors every yr or 2 ? Not me. I haven't read much on the Caddy system, just caught a blip on how they are using a pulse width modulation drive system that is suppose to increase the life of the pump/motor. The guy at one of the big outfits that sells these just tells me motor life is a life fact, accept it and deal with it. Not my way of doing things. If I put something like this in and or on my car, decide I want to go some place way away from home, I don't expect to have to to repair my failed system out in the middle of nowhere, maybe not have a spare pump/motor, or tools and or everything I would have to have to do the job. This is one of the reasons I've been seriously considering another suppliers option of Air to Air, not as effecient by but it was good enough for GM, Ford and Dodge for their diesels. There are is a guys in Aust. that make an air to air piece system for Holdens and Commadores but I'm not seeing just how these pieces would fit an FWD. Then there is the issue of space in an SSEi to put an exchanger if front of the radiator and AC condenser and behind the bumper support. The hood latch would have to be made from scratch to replace the OE piece here. Didn't mean to hi jack this Jag post but I feel that everyone that is dealing with SC's turbos in any make vehicle should consider the choices in cooling charge air systems, water to air is for sure the most efficeint but also more costly in the long term. But then as they have always said, speed cost money, how fast do you want to go? Then comes the other part of that, how long do you want to go fast?
