In this documentary we take a deep dive into the life and legacy of Daniel Caesar, the Golden Child of R&B! From his humble beginnings growing up in Oshawa and being homeless when deciding to make it as a successful musician to becoming a "seemingly" overnight success with his album freudian then losing a large chunk of his fanbase after being canceled for defending YesJulz. We'll touch on all of this, more and how he managed to come out of the fire as a respectable musician with a bright future!

I really gave this project all I had and think its one of my best so far! Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments. I'll see you guys again soon.

  • He is the prime example of surround yourself with people who have your best interest at heart. My friends would’ve checked me at the table 😂

His "cancellation" was successful because Daniel offended his core listeners, black women at the time. Daniel really undermines how important it is for an artist to have that core, loyal audience. Black fans are really important to a black artist career, as they are first supporters to these black artists. I think Brent faiyaz benefitted from his downfall, as he skyrocketed in fame with his album Fuck The World.

Mans said cancel me and we said “bet”
  • Daniel was always undoubtedly talented he was just a lil too arrogant and a lil too ignorant.
  • Very nice video. Very high quality. Now, regarding Daniel Caesar….my grandmother always used to say, “Never let a man tell you no more than once”. He said, he didn’t need black people and we wished him well.

Self hate is one hell of a drug. If he truly loved himself he would surround himself with better people who actually genuinely have his best interest at heart.

Imagine saying you don't need the support of your core audience and that being the end of your career!

I mean he wouldn’t be cancelled if his fan base wasn’t majority of the people he offended. If others supported him just as much he would still be where he was or even bigger by now. No one has ever cared about black women on a global scale enough to stop supporting anything that may harm them so they won’t not listen to his music because he said something about them, he seems cancelled because that was majority of his fan base.

Everyone feels its ok to $hit on black women, we hold the purse string in the black community and I think we have a right to not support people who disrespect and degrade us. Daniel is very talented, I am sure his other fans have been supporting him, right.

Daniel is one of the few celebrities I’ve seen that genuinely got cancelled. It’s hard for me to have much sympathy since he literally asked for it. Freudian is still a fantastic album and I’ll always appreciate it, but I don’t think I can look at Daniel the same.
  • @yuioyup
I don't see it as cancel culture. There were just people turned off of him after he said what he said. Nothing wrong with that

Just because someone writes beautiful music, that doesn't make him wise. He was a very young dude who came into fame virtually overnight but really had alot of growing up to do. You have to understand, the things we say and do and believe in when we're in our 20s may be very different from our 30s, 40s, and beyond. I'm a Black woman and a Mom to a son. I wish this young Black gifted artist the best of luck in all his endeavors going forward.
  • @indiaalmighty
He asked people to cancel him and they did. Words are powerful
  • @bunnyfufuist
I’m not going to lie, Freudian saved my relationship with my mother and I will forever give Daniel his flowers for saving my life
  • @mochalily3735
After that whole controversy I completely checked out on him 🤷🏾‍♀️. Didn’t even know about the apology with Nadeska. This is a SIGNIFICANTLY better apology than the last one lol. It definitely seems like he’s grown and hopefully he means it. I 100% agree that his cancellation left space for other artists to bloom. I haven’t felt like I missed his music because I found artists like Giveon and 6lack and pink$weats, so I never felt the need to keep up with him or seek out his music. Very interesting video and definitely gave me a different perspective. Maybe I’ll peek in on him and see what he’s up to.

Daniel Ceaser is a prime example of benefiting from black american culture but actually doesn’t gaf about black americans. He’s from Canada with Caribbean parents. He meant what he said and the fact that he rushed to defend YesJulz (who is also Caribbean) should tell you everything you need to know. He’s a tether. He said he stand on that, we don’t have to listen to his music and that was it. So therefore, you get what you asked for
