THESE ARE THE BEST SHOES FOR DISC GOLF!!!

Published 2024-02-22
I wanted to upload a vlog before the season started, highlighting what shoes I wear when I play disc golf. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about it recently, and I figured it was just easier to make a video about it rather than answer everyone individually. Super excited for the season to start!

I've been wearing minimalist shoes for 5 years now, even before playing disc golf! I can never go back to life before 😂

Took the plunge and got a pair of the Magna Forest ESC. So happy I did, they feel amazing! First round with them and I threw an ace. Thanks for the break down Casey. We need more pro's talking about their shoes for sure

Barefoot shoes are the way to go, not just for disc golf but for life and health. Been wearing Xero Shoes since before I discovered DG, and don't wear anything else now. Mesa Trail is my go-to in warm weather, Terraflex when it's moderate, Xcursion if it's cold. Will be getting the Mesa Trail WP (waterproof) soon I hope. I've tried several minimalist shoes, and Xeros are the best I've used.

I just purchased magna fg in leather. On sale for $165 right now. I also got a pair of primus lite III for daily wear and exercise

In my opinion, the best "discgolf" shoes are the Nike SB Nyjah Free or Zoom skate shoes by Nyjah Huston. I can say from experience that after 2 years they have not ripped anywhere. I have been playing for 4 years and in the 2 years before that I destroyed 3 pairs (played a lot). Try it out, the shoes are very well designed.

Making me want to try these! Thanks for sharing

I've been waiting for this video for years! Since I saw Eagle first wearing them and then Eric Oakley posted a video about vivos too. I've seen more and more pros wearing them on tour. Vivo needs to sponsor you!! You're gonna get them a lot of sales 😎
  • My game has felt completely transformed since I got the Magna FGs. Feet feel so much more intuitive with the ground feel and has been helpful in getting my timing more dialed in with regards to the lower body. They’re the model I’d recommend to anyone cause they’re so versatile

Ive been wearing these for 4 months here in Vegas. They are awesome

Such great and well-edited content every time. Casey channel rocks! And definitely, Vivos are the best. For wet and mud (UK winter) though I use Meindl Bhutans. They are the only shoe (other than rubber boots or wellingtons made of rubber) that actually keep my feet dry in wet grass (which is the worst). All other supposedly 'waterproof' Gore-tex boots leak. Not Meindl. They are expensive (retail about 300USD) but my first pair lasted 20 years after which I handed them over to my son. That comes down at 13USD per year, which is not too bad.

I got so excited when he put up a croc, that's what I play in lol

I've been wearing Vivo for about a year and I love them, wish I had tried them sooner. I the prior 2 years I was wearing Salomon Sense Ride and they are great for a traditional shoe... But now, wearing "normal" shoes is weird haha. I have 4 pairs of Vivo Barefoot and just got the Magna Forest ESC a few weeks ago for the winters in MN and they are so perfect. But barefoot shoes aren't for everyone, your body will let you know soon after trying them if they aren't lol. Zero drop and wide toe box are the main reasons I switched and then fell in love with the ground feel. Glad more and more disc golfers are wearing these!

Saw your gunna be at Seth Burton this year ! I’m a local who plays a good bit and playing open in it as well ! Let me know if you need anything man ! Glad to see you making it !!

Its all about the Vivos. They are the best thing that ever happened to me.

Summarizing (mostly for myself later) Primus Trail Knit: All around shoe. Now a Gym Shoe Primus Swim Run: not as stretchy, Euro-only run. Good for dry rounds Tracker Decon: Go-to's. Slightly better traction than the Primus. Also fabric and not waterproof. Magna FG's: Waterproof all-around. Magna Forest: Tread is rubber. More of a boot tread. For super muddy rounds. Tracker Decon FG (high top): waterproof version of low tops. Ankle support is not for everyone.

Been wearing the Magna FG for over two years now. I was always turning my ankles in regular shoes because of that feeling you mentioned of the sole being too far away from the body. Since I switched, I'm able to feel uneven ground and roots better and adjust my weight to protect my ankles. The grip and water resistance are great, but the increased ground feel has saved me easily dozens of rounds I'd have lost to injury. Not a super big believer in the alleged benefits or anything, but I've always preferred a more minimal shoe, so they were an easy transition for me.
  • @michaelroush2433
Vivo are the absolute best!! 😍😍 I decided to snagged some Merrell trail glove 7s for this year, just to save a little bit of cash... Truth be told, they feel almost identical!
  • @xsolar
Vivos are the best for sure! Love my Magna FGs. I've had 2 pairs of Tracker Deacon FG2s in the past and both have had a razor sharp bit of stitching in the heel area that just slices my heel open after like 20 minutes of throwing

Great content Casey. I’ll have to check out that shoe line and see if I can find something I like. Good luck tomorrow. Grip it, rip it, and make some noise! See you in Waco. Simon
