I guess it's a useful way of framing the numbers. It's not going from normal to deficient, it's going from hugely inflated to normal.

If you play the same game too much, it becomes boring. But if you take a long break, returning to the game after the break will be good

Every game goes thru the honeymoon phase. BattleBit remastered had an explosion of players on release and people dubbed it the "Battlefield killer". After a few months people stopped using VOIP and the sweats came in. Then lack of content, gameplay got stale, etc. Same thing with HD2 HD2 was originally slated for roughly 10 - 40k players on launch because HD1 had roughly that, so Arrowhead projected they would have a small player base for their niche game. Instead roughly over 1 million players (PC and Playstation included) bogged down their servers. Then issues started popping up: - Server issues (later fixed), but people complained A LOT - Poor and sometimes rash Dev responses to the community - Performance issues - NERFING, which was huge because the weapons that were good were nerfed to the ground. Making gameplay stale (Ex the explosive crossbow sucked on release, then it was nerfed even further for no reason at all. Now it is buffed) - The required SONY account debacle, killing goodwill with AH. A big contributing factor - Part of the player base that was able to play is now locked out because of SONY policies - Lackluster Warbonds that are sometimes half baked and rushed (Ex: The tenderizer when it first came out). And sometimes these warbonds being nerfed a week later makes it not worth buying - Lack of progression, I have max samples and requisition slips because I already bought everything - No armor variety, apple flavored bacon I suppose - a toxic player community that crept in and started complaining about everything (See Helldivers subreddit) During the Sony debacle 2 months ago, along with the poor dev response, the disappointing Arctic War Bond, and LOTS of nerfs instead of making the game fun really killed the goodwill between the playerbase and AH. The game is still fun though, a great vibe with friends and a quick shooter to take a break with. A lot of issues happened at once however and people are now either: - Moving on to other games (Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree came out) - waiting for Illuminates or something interesting to happen in game

I’m still playing several times a week. That’s less than I was then when it first came out, but I’m not anywhere near abandoning a completely. I could see myself playing this game on and off for years to come as long as new stuff keeps coming.
  • I really don't think of that many people are playing on PlayStation. When you log on to the game you can see how many helldivers are playing in the menu. It pretty much stays around 45,000
  • I love this game even with alll the issues .. multiple game have similar or more problems and people still buy and play (2k madden especially cod)

Still playing (PS5)! Group que timing feels the same as when it was but I'm running into less hype train followers, so the rounds are better quality. That is, when the game doesnt crash trying to load in...

I mean, I think most people such as myself are waiting for a large content drop Vehicles released and new faction to kill is what I'm waiting for Give me a damn car so I don't have to walk everywhere
