17 U.S.C. § 107
Hip hop or hip-hop is a subculture and art movement developed in The Bronx in New York City during the late 1970s.The origins of the word are often disputed. Some believe that the word was invented by Keith Cowboy of The Furious Five. Others believe it was a derogatory name for the people who practise the art and wear the relative clothing. It is also argued as to whether hip hop started in the South or West Bronx.[1][2][3][4][5] While the term hip hop is often used to refer exclusively to hip hop music (also called rap),[6] hip hop is characterized by nine elements, however only four elements are considered most necessary to understand hip-hop musically. The main elements of hip-hop consist of four main pillars. The 5th element is commonly considered either street knowledge, hip hop fashion or beatboxing however it is often debated.

  • Black Americans had a tradition of "The Talking Blues" as far back as the 1890s.
  • I'm 52, and in 1986 a co-worker my age now said" I was rapping when I was your age".The saying you're not as brilliant as you think you are is true. When you dig deep into any history ,you can see the seeds of current trends.

Man, all this so-called hip hop of today is directly connected to this music, with ties back to the 1890s. Black music has been reinventing itself with a new face for each generation. But it remains true to the roots and ideals that are integral to the culture.

It definitely is, it just evolved along with rock and roll. It is evident on how modern day hiphop has the grit of rock.
