People really forget that Dottore is an apathetic and logical person. He does everything in pursuit of knowledge not because he enjoys hurting people. It's also funny how he was only interested in ruin guards when he was still in the Akademiya but they didn't let him study ruin guards so he started experimenting on people 😭😭 I don't know how he didn't receive a vision with that kind of ambition lol

I can't wait to see him again, his lore, he's my favorite since manga and I am dying to have him playable! Absolutely gorgeous character! (and his voice does things to me) p.s. According to his eng VA, the last voice was of 10 yo segment and an age gap between segments approximately 5-10 years, and he's voiced 8 segments for that scene, also the oldest segment he voiced was 60+ yo

He's such an interesting character that thankfully doesn't cone off as the cliché mad scientist type. I hope we see more of him and that HoYo doesnt nerf him. Great video as always!

I like the differences in his personality in dubs. In English, he's theatrical, arrogant and emotional, but in Japanese and the orig. Chinese, he comes off sophisticated, meticulous and cold. Especially in his introduction and when Columbina "gives him a compliment". They're like two different people, and I imagine his segments being similarly distinguished. The biggest difference of course being that the "Last voice", when he removed the segments, wasn't his manga counterpart. It was a voice of a child.

Smartest, yes. Most evil, are you on crack? We've seen entire civilisations destroyed by beings, and even stuff like what happened with the Deys which led to much devastation, not to mention the Tsurumi Island sacrifices, etc. and the Sages locking Nahida for 500 years. You really want to say Dottore is worse than all that? Sounds insane to me. I hope he will be in Natlan, for sure, but how are you going to sum up a character whose motivations we do not entirely understand as "evil," let alone the ONLY Harbinger who actually played nice with us when he didn't have to (Arlecchino only did so because SHE was on the line for being dissolved as well, not for any goodness, and Neuvillette/Navia make this quite clear.) Dottore is a greater good kind of person, he pursues knowledge for the benefit of humanity. Perhaps you can call him misguided, but not evil by any stretch, he's saved a lot of lives, ironically including Collei's, and even Tighnari is forced to reckon with this, which is why their exchange at Pardis Dhay went the way it did. Although he did not surrender Haypasia deeming it unnecessary, he was also not hostile with Dottore, knowing well Collei's entire backstory. Dottore did also save Abbas' life, even if the clinical trial was very painful, he at least was cured of Eleazar ad even regained vigour/acquired superhuman strength through the use of archon residue. Though it seems Dottore found a way to refine the method into a vaccine, what else was he supposed to do? Without two Gnoses, not even Nahida could have purified Irminsul, and Dottore was the one to bring that second Gnosis to begin with. If Dottore truly was evil, he could have kxlled us or hurt Nahida/taken the Gnosis by force, yet he chose not to. I'm so tired of people being so simplistic with their assessment of him, if you're going to make theories on characters, at least try to be objective or fair to them.

I love this man so much, it’s crazy! I just hope he gets playable, but I don’t want one of his segments to defect or to have a redemption arc, in my opinion having morally grey and evil characters makes the whole game more interesting.

my absolutely favorite character!!! I am pretty sure he will be playable and i am currently saving for c6r5
  • Nah, Dottore would be too busy in Snezhnaya turning childe into a Resident evil T virus mech mutant super soldier
  • @Il.Dottores
what's more scarier is that it was said he wrote the entire drama from the start (the whole sumeru thing)

I get a lot of flak for saying it, but Dottore isn't evil. He's just neutral. He doesn't care one way or another if people benefit or suffer from his experiments, unless that's a goal of the experiment itself. Has he done terrible, horrific things in the name of science? Absolutely. But everything was considered necessary, regardless of cost. Is he completely selfish? Yup. Evil? I'm not buying it. Maybe I just identify with him too much despite having lines I'm unwillingly to cross. Hunger for knowledge is a terrible curse.

I'd just love to see some quality of life updates like a trade system for items and artifacts between friends. Also some more underground levels I loved the cave systems in sumeru

The language they use around Dottore does not sound like language revolving around clones. To me, it occurs that what they might describe is a scientist whose science went wrong*, and in doing so fractured him into various incarnations through time. As such, the "playable" version might represent his "last incarnation" that either (a) realizes the errors of his ways or (b) turns coat to help the Traveller for some other reason. In fact, I conjecture that the story in which that happens will feature three segments of Dottore working together, and one of them switches sides at a key moment. If this is, in fact, the case, I would expect that the "last incarnation" might change sides because, while being brilliant, he can't act effectively against them until he has the Traveller's help. In fact, that "last incarnation" may even be appalled by his prior selves--if it *is a time-related thing, he may realize that he can't act against them for fear of a Teyvat-shattering time paradox.

11:21 not only himself but also the Captain in case he does something he’ll regret or if he steps out of line and the Captain will just send him to the shadow realm
