Welcome to the show. We are delighted to welcome Steve Rothery to the show… Steve is a founding member of UK progressive rock band, Marillion, now into their fifth decade of highly successful recording and touring. Alongside many other projects Steve also has his own band and is showing little sign of slowing down in terms of writing, producing and making great music.
He's taken a day out from that busy schedule and joined us to walk through some of the key gear down the years AND get a look at that now legendary Squier Strat.

Thank you for doing this. Steve Rothery has been one of my biggest influences since I discovered Marillion during the Marbles album, and then subsequently listened to their back catalog. Describing their longer songs as chapters put together is an eloquent way of putting it, I always felt a song like Ocean Cloud was a collection of movements. And songs like The Great Escape have brought me to tears many times. Truly a remarkable band and amazing guitarist, and I respect them for their approach to music.

Spent my Friday evening in the backyard with my Strat, a slide, & a Boss headphone set, enjoying the beautiful weather, the flowers & a few cold pints. What a fantastic way to close out a fulfilling night, but with two of my favourite Gents having a superlative conversation with Steve Rothery. Wow!!! Thanks Gents!!

Sometimes guitar playing can feel competitive and the 'musical' aspect gets a bit forgotten. Steve is the exact opposite of that, such a beautiful player.

What a great show. Such a quietly confident, well spoken guy too. It’s clear in his voice the passion he has for melody. And some of that 80’s gear he was talking about regarding racks etc… they really were the sound of the 80s. When people ask me of the chorus sound .. I think of him. Kudos! Would love to see a part 2 with the fridge gear 😊

Three absolute Leg-ends! This is a major coup Mick and Dan - getting Rothers onto the show is an epic achievement! One of my favourite players of all time, and a huge influence on prog and post-prog, math rock, and anything a bit tricky. What a treat!

People say Steve R is the most underrated guitarist, kind of agree with that statement, but whether its his solo work or with Marillion, there is a hardcore, big fan base that have been in love with Steve's guitar solos, tone, unique and so recognisable style of playing. True gent, too. Lucky to have met him in 2000 on of the Marillion's tour. Great chat fellas. Subscribed

I was lucky enough to tour support with Marillion and do a Marillion Weekend at PZ as a member of DeeExpus. I was ‘aware’ of Marillion and had Seasons End but not really a ‘fan’. Watching them and particularly Steve from the wings was just an incredible experience. Neverland was the track that just absolutely floored me. The guitar part was just so beautiful and incredibly powerful. Been a BIG fan ever since. I also remember taking many pictures of Steve’s racks and amps 😍

I'm a big fan of Marillion and love Steve Rothery's work. He is my biggest influence and continues to surprise me emotionally over the years. Long live to Marillion!
