The helicopter scene: “I gotta an idea…just fly away” LMAO! That honestly never occurred to me to just…fly away!
-
Tom Berenger is on “military guy” actor Mt Rushmore.
-
Suppressors weren't commonly available in the general Marine Corps until later in GWOT
-
One of the funniest lines in this movie was when they were on the train during their infil. "No room for Peter Pan on this mission."
-
It was a White Phosphorus grenade, that Tom Berenger threw, in the corn field. Great video, guys!

Every sniper movie has to get in that famous " trough the scope shot " That Carlos Hathcock made in Vietnam. Carlos was from the same area as me and he was always one of my heroes. I always like to hear him speak on his Vietnam tours. He was very cocky and done some unbelievable stuff including the through the scope shot. Every sniper knows who Carlos was. Nickname White feather because of the white feather he wore on his boonie hat. RIP White Feather 5-20-42 / 2-22-99

So many Gunny Hathcock references in this movie. Great book 93 confirmed kills.
-
For an upcoming movie review, you guys should watch The Beast, about a Soviet tank in Afghanistan.
-
Funny you mention using your middle finger as your trigger finger could work. That is actually a technique for shooting Lee Enfield bolt actions really fast, gripping the bolt with your index and thumb and using your middle finger to shoot.

I was a navy sar swimmer and mh60s crew chief, there was a training flight for FBI snipers and they forgot their helo lanyards and during a hard bank they both left the aircraft at night over the ocean. Bad night. Another time I watched an EOD jump master try to jump into the water and forgot to unlatch his lanyard and split his ball sack down the middle. Ouch.

I think the significance of dangling the knife in the water was to mimic footsteps and not to have something shiny for the enemy sniper to attract to. If you notice, the enemy sniper spotted ripples in the water coming from behind him and would surmise someone being in the water coming up to him.

Need to watch "HARDCORE HENRY", especially the hideout shootout

Sniper is a 1993 American action film directed by Luis Llosa. The film stars Tom Berenger and Billy Zane as snipers on an assassination mission in Panama. It is the first installment in the Sniper film series. USMC Master Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Beckett (Tom Berenger) uses an M40A1 in 7.62x51mm NATO, a sniper rifle based on the Remington Model 700.

“Just leave. Fuck that guy” 😂😂😂

Absolute classic !! Remember seeing it when it came out on VHS & getting it at blockbuster lol .. great movie though
-
Filmed in Nth Queensland, Australia. Fun fact. That’s some bad arse bush. That train still operates.
-
We had an instructor at Ft Knox who’d been a Ranger instructor. He told us about setting up a patrol base in shitty areas, the perfect locations being akin to mudholes. Thank God he didn’t enforce that on us in the field.
-
Our drill sergeants took us to see this at the end of basic training. What an awesome night! Remember how invincible you felt at that point along with seeing a hooah movie with your drills kinda acting like humans!
-
That scene with the solo AK guy killed this movie for me when I was a kid. I was just like what is this dude Jesus?
-
It was a Willy Pete nade, thats why they showed the white smoke up. I read a book about LRRP guys having half the grenades WP because any VC following were extremely uneasy when it was used
