Haier HTR13 CRT TV Review

Retro gamers tend to swear by the unique aesthetic and fast response times of CRT TVs, but finding a good one has only become more difficult over the years. While many focus on novelty CRTs and high-end monitors, I found a happy middle ground in the Haier HTR13, a budget-oriented set manufactured back in 2008.

The HTR13 is NOT a perfect TV. It's screen is pretty round even for a CRT, and its sound output is weak. It also does not support S Video, or RGB. Still, it has a few features that make it pretty unusual alongside the general stock of used TVs out there.

I try to make videos several times a month about everything from gaming to cartoons to music. I'm still getting my footing on Youtube, and would very much appreciate any support from my gracious viewers.

I play all my retro games using various flavors of Retotink going direct or Analogue clone devices to a 32" Samsung 4k TV. I am curious if light guns work ok on the Haier.

I have an HTR-20. I think that means its the same as yours, but bigger. I'm trying to hook it up to my raspberry pi over YPbPr. It also supports ATSC, which is like a superset of NTSC with support up to 1080i. I'm not sure if thats only for broadcasts using the tuner though. By the way, do you know if this thing count as an "HD" crt that upspacles everything to 1080i. Do you get scanlines at 240p?
