Hydro Dipping A Pair of Crocs

Obviously... the main problem with my hydro dipped pair of crocs is that they are just too cool to even exist I'm kidding we for some reason picked up acrylic spray paint instead of regular spray paint, although I'm not 100% sure if regular spray paint would work better or worse, probably just differently or at least not crack and flake off as easily. But yes I wound up with just essentially painted crocs WHICH IS STILL BADASS AND YES I LEAVE AN ART TRAIL WHEREVER I GO. But will probably eventually flake off entirely even with the layer of sealant. I would definitely recommend this form of fun having however! I had a 10/10 time doing it and although I would have liked to have had a beautiful long lasting pair of crocs to wear, I think I might give it another go with a different type of paint and absolutely love the effect it created. Below are the clips that I used from people (more successfully and knowledgeably) hydro dipping sneakers as well a pair of crocs that deeply inspired me so at least their shoes came out better than mine. But I'm still going to wear mine anyways. I don't really care. I hope this inspired you to have some hydro dip fun in the future or to check out some videos on youtube because they are in fact very relaxing to watch. Anyways I gotta go vacuum everything my feet touched. Goodbye have a good day.

  • Some hot tips for you: -Prime the croc with acetone and then spray paint primer -Use an oil based spray paint because it dries slower Be a little slower with the actual dip like move it slower through the layer so it can gently wrap around the shoes and adhere All of this would make it stay better. Your pattern work is cute as hell and needs no improvement.

Last I recall there is this activator thing that you're supposed to spray on the water before you do the paint. (Please help her see this)

I assume that the crocs weren't prepped prior to dipping. A good suggestion would be degreasing them and then scuffing them with sand paper so the paint could bind to the shoes properly. That is good for anything that is getting a paintjob such as furniture, canvases, and sculpting and such. And then the final touch would be as you said, spraying some matte clear since crocs are rubber. Also the paint looked clumpy cause it was dipped so many times. I also felt like you sprayed too much and a thinner coat would've been fine. If you don't like how the first dip came out, scrub off the paint and try again! Other than that the end results looked really pretty. Glad that you found this activity with enjoyment. P.s. Acrylic paint is good for hydro dipping along with it being best used on crocs because the paint is very flexible and doesn't crack.

Every Jenna Crafts video I've watched so far: "I was only half-paying attention to the demo video, but..."

Jenna, for future reference, you should use sandpaper to lightly rough up the surface of the crocs so that the paint has something to grip to and even use a base coat at the beginning in conjunction with the top coat at the end. You should also try using thinner layers of paint and avoid too much double dipping. A final tip, don't move the can so fast when spraying the water because it will break the paint up before you dip the crocs resulting in a patchy paint job and a higher risk of flaking. Good luck! I love you and your videos! ❤️

  • It’s Saturday which means it’s time to watch Jenna videos and hope she’s doing okay

the reason why the paint is coming off the crocs is because you used acrylic paint. Acrylic paint dries and cracks because it isn’t very flexible compared to other paints. I’m not sure if it would work but there is a paint that is more flexible called fabric paint and could stick onto the crocs as long as they had texture which would require you to sand down any smooth surface with sand paper :)
