Please let the hostess know that I admired how calm and patient she was with the children there. I know we tend to be our own worst critics, but she looked quite lovely. I'm impressed by her skills and her gracious nature.

Your sister in law is so cute, she really doesn't need to worry about her looks 🥰
  • “Shin-Chan don’t take the octopus out when you eat it. It’s pricey” best Japanese mom quote ever

You know a country is safe when you can simply park your bicycle outside without a lock and leave. I love japan.

Even Japanese parties are very tamed and informative, here in the Philippines just plug in the karaoke then its already a party!

I once steamed broccoli and then dumped it in a shallow platter. My Japanese grandmother was appalled and told me to make it look presentable. This was over 25 years ago. Now I have the tendency to fancy up my food and I think of grandma every time I do it🤗

I love how engaging the children are, if my family host a party like this these days the kids will just sit in a corner playing with the iPad :(

In India too it is like this almost..like we with our relatives like my mother's sisters families etc gather in a house and cook food together...Now a days we are ordering food from out like naan or biryani. And we get an ice cream family pack. And children form a group and gossip or play. Elders too talk forming groups based on age. We too sit down on floor and eat as ppl would be more..We sleep adjusting in the same room sometimes that night by spreading blankets on the floor..Children would be requesting one another to stay for the night...It's fun

My question at the end, "What's a house party like where you're from?" obviously is a very different question now than was intended back when I filmed this. Only a couple weeks has passed, yet the world is such a different place. Our family has been on self-imposed isolation for a bit now, seeing how things have gone around the world. Keep safe everyone and I hope this can bring a bit of lightness into your lives for a brief moment. - Greg

Oh, so this is what having a not dysfunctional family looks like.

"Isn't octopus gross?" Mom replies, "Don't take the octopus out when you eat it! It's pricey!" lol, I laughed so hard at that.

This is my kind of party. A never ending food.
