Lip Sinc Test Animation

The other title of this is "PAIN".

These six seconds of animation were a result of 47 hours of pure torture. The assignment was simple: download the MP4 of Bart Simpson saying "WoW cOoL!!!" from our emails, and animate a character's lips to the audio, note you don't have to make it Bart, it could have been anything. No background, heck, it could have been just a floating Henry Stickman head!

By the time I heard the voice clip, I already had the vision and the story in my head: Bart went into a comic shop one day, to pickup the very first issue of "Bartman" which was based on an idea Bart submitted to a comic company as part of a national comic book hero competition, where the company would select one of the idea submissions to make a limited issue series based on the submitted idea, and Bart happened to be the winner. So here he is, in the comic shop, turning around, grabbing the comic, and saying "Wow, cool!!!" So once I see something in my head, I immediately want to make it. This is my Achilles' heel, and this time I suffered horribly from it.

I had to draw a background, draw over 150 different drawings, and had to divide Bart into multiple different parts, I had to make sure I drew the different assets in the right place, and on their own layer by layering the paper on top of each other and clipping them in place on top of the light tablet with a flimsy paper clip. That in itself took one-third of the 47 hours and then had to take every drawing, scan them in one by one, put them in a zip folder on my mom's computer, send it to my Mac in an email, unzip the zip folder, take every image except the background, and have to painstakingly go through each frame on photoshop to cut out the white paper background, all so I can export them from photoshop to animate. then of course all that was left was organizing them in order, and the animation was finally done. Finished at 7am, and had to get to class at 8:30 the same day.
