Embark on an epic three-day journey along the storied expanse of US Highway 50, famously dubbed the 'Loneliest Road In America' by Life Magazine. Spanning 230 miles from Ely to Fallon, Nevada, this adventure is a deep dive into the heart of the American West, where history and rugged beauty converge.

My voyage begins in Ely, where we explore the fascinating historic railroad museum, delving into the rich heritage of the railroads that once dominated this landscape. A visit to the local mining and town museum further unravels the area's storied past, while a leisurely walk through downtown Ely offers a nostalgic glimpse into a bygone era.

As we traverse the Lincoln Highway, the journey weaves through the quaint towns of Eureka and Austin, showcasing the timeless charm of small-town America. The night spent at the Middlegate stagecoach stop is a highlight, providing a unique experience reminiscent of the Old West.

Continuing towards Fallon, the drive is punctuated with stops at mesmerizing sand dunes and historic Lincoln Highway markers, each narrating tales of yesteryear. This road trip is not just a travel experience but a journey through time, revealing the layers of history and natural beauty that define this iconic stretch of highway.

Join me on this once-in-a-lifetime road trip across Nevada's mountains and deserts, and discover the solitude, history, and breathtaking landscapes of America's Loneliest Road.

As the son of a Forest Service employee and as a summer worker for the Bureau of Land Management as a young man in the sixties, I appreciate that you value the work of these agencies

Hey Russ, it's a nice treat to see this long-form video of the Loneliest Road adventure...I don't have to search for a movie to watch on Netflix tonight! I've always driven Hwy 50 west-to-east, it's not surprising to see the scenery looks pretty much the same going in the other direction 🙃 You picked a great time to take that drive, the desert looks so green after those rains. By the way, I really enjoyed your recent episodes on the road in Utah. Happy trails!

I actually love this long session. I saw it in parts and it was pleasant to sit at my PC and have a something to look forward to watch every 15 minutes or so. Thanks Russ. I sensed some Deja Vue.
  • I ABSOLUTELY love the longer video. Felt like I was watching a documentary. Keep em' coming Russ.
  • Little Known Fact: The pony express was EXPENSIVE! To deliver a letter via pony express was $60 back in the money of that time. In today's dollar, that would be $2152.13 now THAT is an expensive letter! hahahaha
  • I love all your videos but the video of Kingman Arizona really hit home because Kingman is mostly my hometown because my ties go all the way back to 1977 to the present because my daughter and her family still live there including her mom and family so I can't thank you enough for bringing me home 🙏♥️
  • Using that drone makes all the difference Russ, that was a good investment, keep up the good work you are well appreciated as you know -
  • Thank you so much for sharing/showing us part of Merica that we'd never otherwise see. God bless you and safe travels.
  • Just missed you at Quartzite! Bought some games at the game store, also I got one of your stickers! Thanks for the year Russ. Have a Merry Christmas!
  • Have been there and stayed in Hotel Nevada, rode the train and explored the whole town, even found the bethel ,located in downtown ely. Wonderful trip and loved all the people . Don’t miss going to Ely. Then went all the way across the loneish road in America and it is . Wonderful state of Nevada.
  • That was epic, Russ! When I traveled that road, I missed all that stuff. I guess I'll have to do it again, and this time take a week! I didn't realize there were so many places to camp and see petroglyphs. I've been through Ely many times to visit my daughter's family in Idaho. I visited the railroad museum multiple times and took the train out to Ruth, but missed the city museum. Thanks a bunch for that movie. I really enjoyed it!
