Personal language is what this man had. And knew how to work the microphone!
-
Joe Henderson was one of the top tenor players - never receiving the recognition due. He could play anything - a rare giant in his own right.
-
NHOP and Tootie swangin' in the motherf$ckin' cut, whew! Joe Hen and Drew right there, too. Wow, interstellar beauty here...Thanks for sharing this!

one of the best if i had to listen to nothing else but joe henderson my ears would never be hungry and my sould would always be on fire.

Joe Henderson is such an original genius ! To me he is right there with Coltrane, Rollins and Dexter. A great composer as well
-
Joe Henderson is the only tenor saxophonist in the same orbit with the great John Coltrane. A complete musician with technical ability to spare. His mode for joe and in an out are two of the great jazz recordings of that period. Thank you Kenny dorham for introducing the jazz World to the great Joe Henderson.

As good as it gets!! Great Jazz !! 56 years ago !!!

Mind blowing, this must indeed be some of the best jazz ever recorded. Joe Henderson is truly amazing, but let's not forget Kenny Drew Sr. who was one of the outstanding pianists at that time. It's also hard to believe that Tootie Heath is the only living survivor of this quartet.

The youngsters today, as good as they truly are, still cannot match the dynamics on their horns like the Masters of the fifties and sixty's. Joe and Stan (Getz) are two prime examples............ today's players can blast you with a "thousand notes" and "runs" but fail to tell a musical story like you hear right here LIVE !!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone is playing beautifully here.

RIP Mr Heath.

Joe Henderson is amazing in this performance!

Joe's lines seem to come from the most beautiful place in all of hell haha. They're so amazing... there's this fury and angst behind them that's hard to put my finger on, but they're soooo unique and hit all the time!

Love NHOP’’s sound. He was 22yrs old.

This is jazz at its finest! There is nobody that sounds as cool as Joe on the Sax!

Joe was a consummate artist

That trio played great. Great ears. Joe H played a wide variety of moods and intention. Sometimes more chill/cool, sometimes cookin hot note for note precision nobody can touch him, then sometimes outright death and murder of live stock
