I guess the most important takeaway is to use multiple layers of fur, make sure to have a lot of contrast, and smooth out each individual shade.

His smooth, fluffy fur is so perfectly textured that we almost want to reach out and rub it. This video was fantastic to see. We truly like getting tattoos, and we frequently personalize and get full-sleeve temporary tattoos from Realistic Fur. We admire how well the creator sketched this Realistic Fur.

I've been drawing with charcoal and graphite for 25 year and I can honestly say this is the best most helpful fur technique video I've ever seen! Great job! You're an awesome artist and a also a great teacher!

Do not underestimate that last step with the eraser. (Aside: That's a "Tombow Mono Zero" eraser he's using. @9:24. Stop asking.) You're not using it to "undo" what you shaded in pencil, you are using it to draw strands of highlights into the fur. Without it, the highlights are defined by negative space between your strokes and are impossible to keep consistent -- which is why it's so easy for beginners to get it wrong. Using an eraser to reinforce that negative space with intentionality is what you're missing.
  • Hairs, beards, and furs are indeed quite tricky to draw and that too in that realistic a fashion. And your art skills are amazing! Love from India! 💖

I wish I had this video 25 years ago. Thanks for helping me to understand the mistakes I had made drawing fur and showing me the way to do it better :)
  • I always wondered how artists draw "white" details like fur with dark pencils. I had no idea you could get such a precise and clean effect with an eraser!
  • Wow! I just drew fur! After many, many years of trying and basically giving up. Thank you! ❤
  • A process that is long, but amazingly effective. This technique WILL work for beginners, amazing video
  • The hard part is putting all that white contrast to the black. I always have that problem drawing. Great video!
  • I have wanted to learn how to create the look of fur/hair. Thanks for explaining and demonstrating this technique!

This is the best fur tutorial I have ever seen. I have been drawing for years and never been good at fur. Thank you.
  • @cureilona
Brilliant!!! Thank you! And yes, please do a video on drawing circles freehand. 😍
  • Wow!! I have watched many many how-to videos on how to sketch fur and by far, this is the best one. First, you talk at a good speed; not too slowly and not too rapidly. Plus you talk when you are sketching. Then the content of what you say is great. You talk about what not to do, you offer up tips on the pencils, sharpness, direction and pressure. You don’t spend a lot of time going over materials. Your video is at just the right speed. You are most definitely a natural teacher, and from the short example of your work part of the video, clearly enormously talented! I will be watching more of these. Thank you and may you become recognized for your talents.
