Bats got more rights then she does....😒.
  • They can remove protected species and put them in a safe area out side of the home. The health department as well as the owner need to be ashame .

Anytime someone mentions section 8 the ignorance starts. I have paid taxes my entire life. When I left my ex for DV I went to a shelter who assisted me in locating affordable housing with my single income. Section 8 has preferences for DV victims, disabled, and working families. My rent is $2200, I pay 1/3 based on my income along with all the other bills. I also participate in the homeownership program. I work and always have. You don't know anything about this woman. She has tenant rights through HUD and should contact legal aid. No one has to live in those conditions. The landlord is being paid for her to live there, they should maintain the property or he is doing what you people complain so much about getting unearned money from the government.
  • Please, put your rent money into an escrow account until the problem is corrected.
  • A home is not natural habitat. Have wildlife agency remove the bats to a more natural environment. Have the landlord clean and install screens to prevent return.
  • Bats are cute, but only outside. They can carry rabies, so the landlord needs to do something. Those are the kinds of responsibilities you take on when you become a landlord. Pest control, maintenance of appliances, etc.

The city needs to condemn the home.
  • 😳😳OMGGG. thats horrible why not find them another place to live ASAP instead of asking them to record it???‼SMDH

"Protected species" my foot. If someone gets bitten and ends up sick, then she can sue the landlord and city for not intervening sooner. Funny how the city suddenly cared once the news station got involved. Typical laziness from government employees.

All those folk she's complaining to, are at home living comfortably. This matter is not being taken seriously. There's no way she should have to endure this any longer, it's July 2 & they're saying the inspection is July 23...No way! The Landlord should be held accountable! I'd sue the Landlord & Housing Authority!!!! This condition is worse that living with roaches... Horrific & Appalling! Call post control & sue for reimbursement plus pain & suffering! So sad...

How the hell some bats got more rights in her home than she do. J dont care go get the bats out the woman home. The health department and animals control should be fined by the people until they help fix the issues.

When did bats start getting section 8 vouchers?

Document and record everything. Sue immediately. The health can be used as well. God bless you
  • Id sue ...bats carry rabies...and I'm from Illinois... Chicago where I guess their not protected because I had a bat come in and they sent the fire fighters over immediately to get it out
  • It's also illegal for the landlord to not change the batteries in the fire alarms

This is why we need you not to retire Elliott Davis we love the work you do
  • I would record this, make phone calls, first to a lawyer!! I would pack up. and get out!! Then lawsuit!!!
