Terrifying Scam is Costing Seniors and Others Thousands!

I never answer a number I don't recognize. Then, if they don't leave a message, I block the call.

My husband had been dead for a year when he sent me a text to come meet him and give him some money. Didn't lose money but it was upsetting.

I haven't experienced it, but my ex- Mother in law did. Her grandson, a young adult at the time, lived with her. One day she got a call from a person saying that the grandson was in an accident and needed money. Well she didn't fall for it because the grandson was there with her. She was lucky that he was home at the time. It could have been a very different outcome otherwise.

I'm sorry to leave so many comments I don't mean to hog the page. But you need to know what a lovely person you are and very much loved by many people who have never even met you in person yet

So much evil and abuse to scam people.

A lady who travels in her RV had that happen to her elderly mom last year. Since she was on the road, her mom believed the scammer and lost a substantial amount of her savings. Be careful out there, since these scammers can find you if you have a channel and target loved ones.

It's a shame, So many people, instead of (honestly) working to make money, are scamming, frauding and stealing, especially from the elderly. Pure shameful. Please keep the videos coming. Thanks Carol, for being concerned and showing love to us Seniors.🎉🎉🎉❤❤🙏

Great informative vid! I formerly worked at a Walmart money center and that is an old scam updated to be even more terrifying. When I worked there I was allowed to suggest to the victums, to call a family member to check the situation out before sending the money.[They target people visiting other countries and steal their phones to find people to call. They target grand mas.] Also , if you send money and use the option of giving a name or code instead of having to show your drivers license. Scam artists sometimes have an inside person that alerts them to money being sent that way. Then they immediately run to a money center to claim it , not having to show an id. I once caught a guy doing this quite often and refused to wait on him , making a man ager comeover as it was my option to not serve a suspicious person. He stopped coming to my window , but kept it up to others. Noting I could do. So my advice is to make the person you are sending money to, to have to show id.

So many scams going on.. Never give out private information to anyone you don't know.

Rule number one: If you don't recognize the number and you're not expecting a call, don't answer it. Listen to the voicemail. Even if you recognize it as a scam from what they say or if it's a telemarketer, the fact that you answered the phone is noted and it gets sold to all kinds of lists and you'll be getting more calls.

Oh my God just hearing this my heart is pounding all over again. About 3 years ago I was scammed out of $2,000. They were actually trying to get 5,000 but I had transferred $2,000 and then went to my bank and I found out I was being scammed. It's a long story if you want to know what I'll tell you exactly what they did to me oh my God when I called the police they can't do anything about it oh my God

There is another scam where grandchild calls grandma and says grandma I just got arrested. I need money. Can you send it to a lawyer? I’m in jail. I need to get bailed out and the grandma thought it was her grandson and she was ready to do it but lo and behold her husband/grandpa, figured it was not true and stopped it before it happened. When you answer the phone and you don’t know who it is and they say your name don’t say yes because that gives whoever on the other line permission to use your number for things or your name if you don’t recognize the number just hang up don’t even say yes.

I’ve heard of this diabolical scam before. Using the fear of the Cartel is a new horrifying twist. I’m glad Tanya was ok but sorry she had to be terrorized like that. I’m always so appreciative when someone tells about a scam because I’m hopelessly gullible (but getting better lol). 😆

I am in the midst of terrifying scam in the town of Rocky Top, TN. Hit for over $100,000's and the police , mayor and local govn't involved. The scams don't stop. Using children is the lowest of all but it is everywhere. It is so scary of all the ways we are getting scammed and the law is worthless. I am a single senior so we are great targets. Glad you brought this genre of scams to light.

Megyn Kelly recently had a fraud week and on fraud with an episode similar to this on Friday of that week.

I do NOT answer my phone if I do NOT recognize the phone number !!!!!
