I really like your description in this video! There's such a fine line when you are a maximalist but still want a cohesive look that doesnt overwhelm and offend haha (some people have to live with others that have different tastes) Thanks Ania :)

I didn't know how to describe my style but this is it! Minimalist Maximalist! Love this!

This is so absolutely brilliant! You’ve opened my eyes! I love maximalism but dislike over-crowded spaces. Minimalist maximalist is the answer: “You still wanna go with that less is more, but with the more maximalist aesthetic.” Thinking of my flat, there are many characteristics you describe here. Thank you!

I rotate the knickknacks by season in my house. September fall merges into Halloween, Halloween merges into Thanksgiving, Christmas stands alone. January I bring out the knickknacks with no definite season. Valentine's Day stands alone. March April and May all merge. June/summer, 4th of July, August blend and the cycle repeats.
  • I found my mid way thru it. Bold colours and streamline but clean surfaces. Think of it as Cyber y2K combined with streamline, y2K Goth and Japanese sensibilties of the traditional type. Dominating colours are black, red, and gold and platinum tone.

This was a really interesting approach. You took the extreme ends of the range to find a balanced medium, that, incidentally, comes out as a unified style. This makes it easy for people to avoid falling into the chaotic projectile maximalism that I have seen (with a cringe... ooooOOOOoooooOOooo).
  • Thank you for this video- I try really hard to have clean lines and open foundation. My colors are not bold because they are grey, yet they are bold because they are grey leather sofas.

I was purposefully looking for this video and now I know what I need! I was always torn apart between styles (don't get me wrong i still am in small details whether i like art nouveau more or avant garde or gothic or else) but now at least I know for a fact that minimalistic lifestyle can look fun and it changes everything because honestly I was so doubtful about those solid colour environments what people call "sterile" that I doubted if I really can be a minimalist and fulfil my need for a more free space if it would be so boring but here we are! it is in fact doable and both criterias - ease of operating in the environment (aka cleaning, getting ready, unwinding) and having lovely fun pieces that show personality and add mood and joy really can co-exist! glad I thought about this combo of minimalist maximalism and came across your video! nothing too new, just confirmation of my thoughts and getting this off my mind - but it really helps, thank you!
