  • @NaThingSerious
PRC: You don’t exist, we are China ROC: No you don’t exist, we are China Bhutan: There is no China
  • @jupitahr
Children from Bhutan: “Mom, why does it say my pencil was made in an unknown region?”
  • Denying a country’s entire existence has to be the pettiest and funniest way of disagreeing with them
  • @koyocho1235
Fun fact: You can find a lot of "Made in unknown region" products in Bhutan.
  • Normal conversation in Bhutan: "He looks foreign, where's he from?" "Oh, he's Chinese." "He's what?"
  • As a Malaysian, it was always interesting to me that our passports said 'travel to all countries except Israel' and those who wish to go there usually need to go via an illegal detour so that you wont attain a stamp on your passport

Bhutan: Doesn't recognise both PRC and ROC as countries Bhutan: "i play both sides so i would always come on top"
  • @jonseon5952
Bhutan: Ah yes, The Great Wall of unclaimed territory
  • Considering that Vatican City considers the ROC as a country and it's the head of Catholic church while having more than 1.3 billion believers world wide, so... more than 1.3 billion people on this planet recognises ROC as a country, now that's a lot!

Just a correction about the Somaliland thing, it was recognised for those five days and is still recognised today by these countries : China, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Ghana, Israel, Libya and the Soviet Union when it existed. Oh and you know one thing I find crazy about Somalia and Somaliland, is that they're both allies with both North AND South Korea, which I find slightly crazy.

Everytime he said, "Agreed to recognise", I just pictured two presidents shaking hands and going, "Alright fine, you exist"

China: Exists Bhutan: "im gonna pretend i didnt see that"
  • If you are a person with normal judgment, you will definitely be surprised by the actions of the Bhutanese government. If you are interested in knowing something in-depth because of this, check out the treaty signed between India and Bhutan in 1947. This will help you understand why such a small country does not recognize China, and see how Bhutan's diplomatic rights are restricted by India

FIFA has more countries because of things like where the UK is seen as one country, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all have their own football association and so each gets recognised as a separate country. But in the Olympics, the country that’s recognised is Great Britain, so ends up with a team compromising of players from all these countries. Famously with Welsh players refusing to participate in the national anthem in 2012. In Rugby, ROI and Northern Ireland play as one country because the IRFU was formed before independence and never split.

"either recognise the PRC or the ROC as china" bhutan: how about no

China: hey Bhutan, want a high speed railroad? Bhutan: who’s asking

As a Taiwanese, I know that there are many people in the world who don’t even know the existence of Taiwan, let alone some countries that don’t recognize Taiwan.
