A 74-year-old retired housekeeper allegedly robbed an Ohio bank with a gun. However, Ann Mayers is reportedly hoping authorities show some sympathy because she says she's also a crime victim. Mayers says she was driven to desperation because she had been cheated out of her life savings by a scammer. The FBI issued an alert saying scams against seniors are on the rise. Inside Edition’s Ann Mercogliano has more.

Robbing a bank and getting just 500 dollars is a scam 😂

I work with seniors through the federal government and I can tell you, these seniors will fall for anything if scammers offer them free things

People should really talk about scammers to their elderly relatives since they’re so naive.

At 74 years old getting convicted of armed robbery is a life sentence, regardless of the specifics of the sentence.

I don't answer my phone, door, or emails if I don't know who it is.

So she - fell for a scam - spoke to family members about the idea of robbing banks - robbed a bank for less than a grand - spoke to cops without a lawyer Not too bright is she?

Being scammed isn’t a valid excuse to go rob a bank

It's been an issue for years. I watch Payback Scammer on youtube, who helps catch scammers and gets call centers shut down. Thanks to his hard work, a major kingpin was arrested after hiding in Dubai and all of his assets were seized.

"I did whatever you're here for." "What?" "I DID WHATEVER YOU'RE HERE FOR." "Alright, ma'am. You're under arrest for possession of cp, terrorism, animal cruelty, and conspiracy to commit felony jaywalking." "W-what? I didn't do any of that!" "Too late, ma'am. No take-backsies."

Why not hire someone to rob the scammers and get your money back?
  • An old guy told me the other day when you become old prison isn't a deterrent
