Lisa Ling is a national treasure!
  • This should be viewed by every living person. We tend to turn a blind eye to the human needs of our aging loved ones as if their desires die at a certain age. I checked and learned that Ms. Ida passed away in 2021. She lived to see 106 years. ❤

I’m 68, I am unable to retire. My family is mostly passed. 2 younger siblings are gone. My younger wife passed 3 months ago from a heart attack. She was only 51. Life is very unpredictable but you must keep going. Thank you Lisa Ling you’re the best.

My neighbor is 97 on may 2nd. She’s amazing living on her own, still drives and drives well! She washes her car weeds her garden lives alone but flys on her own to visit her daughter. “Unbelievable”

My mom just turned 95, 2 years widowed, and recently got herself a cycling machine. Still drives❤, plays Bridge with her friends, and miraculously her mind is clear. Beautiful Story by Lisa. She is the quintessential journalist.

My wonderful grandma got remarried at 93 years young and enjoyed that relationship until her death at 97 years, she had the privilege to be healthy both mentally and physically till the end of her life leaving me with such wonderful memories to carry until the end of mine.

Beautiful documentary. Lisa's dad worked a modest job over a 35+ year career, made sacrifices to put food on the table and send his two daughters to college, and eventually pay off the house, despite being divorced. Fiercely independent. I salute ppl like him.
  • I am 74 ,i have my own house ,i cut the grass ,i tend to the garden ,i drive to colorado and ski 50 days a season ,I swim every day in the summer and paddle once a week .You have to keep moving !!!

As a new mother, its crazy to see the circle of life. Literally every single thing that is stressful to care for an elderly parent is the same for caring for a newborn. It takes "a toll physically, mentality and emotionally because you never have private time and are always on call." Perhaps too many of us forgot the sacrifices our parents made to see us through😔
  • So happy to have my own tiny apartment in a subsidized seniors building. No dating at 67 thank you. I volunteer with a pregnancy centre, I go for long walks by the waterfront, I belong to an amazing church and see friends. Some days, I enjoy sitting at home and reading, cleaning my apartment. Love being retired.

May God bless these people taking care of their aging parents!!!!!!!!

WOW, Ida and her family have amazing genes... Her 60 year old daughter doesn't look a day over 29!! Long live Ida! Wonderful.
  • Most elderly do not live this kinda existence. One has to have adequate resources. Trust me as a nurse who's worked in multiple long time care facilities. Most of America's elderly live way below these standards.

I have an elderly neighbor from Pakistan and he is the sweetest person ever. I help him with his yardwork and remind him to stay hydrated. Cherish your elders, the wisdom they possess and the stories they share are worth hearing. ❤ Ida and her daughter 🫶🏾

The tenderness with which Lisa Ling approaches every subject has me hooked on this series. I can't believe I missed this series when it first premiered but I'm so grateful it's on YouTube.

In my state, these residences cost $8,000 to 10,000 per month now. Not affordable for the majority.
  • @Maddie-lv5sg
I am 68 and caring for my family, cooking, shopping, cleaning and spending special time with my husband will keep me going to 100...I hope.

I work at a Retirement community and Care Center. I'm a housekeeper. I have worked there 23 years. I'm now 65 and semi retired. I love being around these folks. They have all kinds of activities except speed dating...lol.
