Shelling The Florida Keys & Key Biscayne: a beautiful beach combing experience!

Published 2021-05-24
Come along with me on adventure to the beautiful Florida Keys!

The Keys are a beautiful chain of sub-tropical islands sitting at the southernmost section of Florida. In terms of biodiversity, The Keys are very distinct from most of the rest of Florida because of their proximity to the Caribbean and warmer ocean currents. For these reasons, the Keys feel and look like a tropical paradise! More species of shells can be found here and in extreme SE Florida, than any other location in the continental United States.

Let's go Explore!

Don't forget to always exercise caution when exploring the beach and respect the nature you explore. Additionally, NEVER take any live shells!

Well done! That giant live true tulip was awesome! Probably my favorite of all the finds you featured today. Gotta love those star shells! There are some good shelling spots in the keys, but doesn't seem like too many people know about them though, so cool to see you were out there!

Loved the true tulip how cool you caught it at dinner time. I am leaving for the keys in 2 weeks I have asked SWF where to go shelling at? We stay in Marathon but plan to hit side beaches all the way to Key West if you have any suggestions I would love to know about them. Thank you so much for the walk.

Bear Cut on Key Biscayne. Best shelling spot in Florida, bar none. The shells are protected from collecting now, I believe.
