North St. Albert Trail Corridor - August 2022 Construction Flyover

Published 2022-09-14
2022 construction along the North St. Albert Trail Corridor began in late May this year. Our flight highlights progress up until late August where you can see major improvements to the St. Albert Trail road alignment, specifically to the new north and southbound lanes. Southbound traffic, between Coal Mine Rd. and Villeneuve Road was shifted over to the new southbound lanes in late 2021 and during this drone flight, video shows that the project has constructed a new multi-use path on both west and east sides of St. Albert Trail along with intersection plazas and a new bus stop adjacent to the concrete sidewalk.

Phase 2 of the North St. Albert Trail project begins just north of Coal Mine Rd. and the drone will show that soil excavation and preparation of the site has occurred at the Everitt Drive N intersection.

Finally, the drone takes us over Villeneuve Rd. by the commercial property. You can see that a new roundabout occupies the roadway at the middle commercial access.”

What was the goal of the trail realignment? Is there a transit station going in on the west side or something?
