What is the true role of the Messiah, and how can we properly identify this person? What are the 5 key qualities that Mashiach must possess? And who were the 5 major figures in Jewish history that had a messianic movement associated with them?

Find out in this class, where we also explore Jacob’s transformation into Israel, the spiritual power of music, the greatness of King David, and the timeline of events in the forthcoming Messianic Age.

This discussion is the best, by far, of all YouTube videos on Moshiach. Very well done Efraim!

Also possible that the modern version of a lyre (chinor) might be a violin, which is a common portable string instrument, and the modern Hebrew word for violin is "kinor".

The question may be: when someone has some credible information about who Mashiach is, will anyone listen to him?
  • That whole discussion at the end, about how many potential people could be the Messiah is totally irrelevant. God guarantees that there is at least one man in each generation who could be the Messiah. One is all we need.

I see that on bar kochva depiction there is a magen david. I was wondering what the origin of the Magen daved is and what era it surfaced and the possible penimus of that symbol. What other symbols have there been other than the chanukayuh
  • So to be clear, you have said that even God himself does not know who the Mashiach is or will be. You did not directly say this in those exact words but indirectly you stated it. If anyone does not understand what I am saying, it is in reference to your claim that God has set “potential” Messiahs in every generation and that any one of them who would happen to fulfill the five requirements would be the Mashiach. That is saying, logically and according to your reasoning, that God does not know who the individual is. It could have been or could be anyone of the potential Mashiachs you say God has placed in every generation. And that amounts to a large pool of people. It was always my understanding was going to be more specific than that and that he would know who, precisely, and in what timing this Mashiach would come about. That he would be in fact selected by God.
  • I’m excited to see the Jews get their messiah, and blessings to be showered on the earth.
  • SHABBAT SHALOM RABBI, Is there any oral tradition on the Mashiach supposed to be sinless?
  • 1 Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? 9 And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors. Isaiah 53

Where do we find in the Torah those statements that the rabbi says to recognize the Messiah?
  • @Melungeonpeople
The Mashiach doesn't have to be one individual. Many times the Torah refers to a group as an individual.
  • Shalom you all, Mashiach will come in a way and time nobody will expect. Abba's ways are not men's ways. Mashiach will not die but will usher the messianic age to fulfill Hashem's ultimate purpose . He will rule and judge the nations with the holy ones of Israel from Jerusalem. The time period is not specified anywhere in the Tanakh. The Tanakh does not specify that he will die either. The Tanakh says that there is one ONLY heir of king David to establish the Davidic Covenant. Not two or three. Just because king David and King Solomon had many children, and hundreds of wives it doesn't mean all were entitled to the promise. Just like Abraham was given one son Isaac ( birth right over Ishmael ) as the promise seed to bring forth Israel. Hashem also chose a specific lineage to fulfill his oath to king David. Judah had more than one son but only one was chosen to bring forth lineage of king David. Psalms 89:3,4 ,29-31,34-36 clearly says that the future Mashiach will come directly from his flesh not from a concubine but from israelite woman from the royal house of David and the Mashiach will endure forever.
