How much time to be patient and empathetic? 1 week? 1 month? 1 year? 3 years? There's gotta be a time to move on so that the energy that goes to dealing with toxicity can be used to focus on other areas of growth!
  • An authentic leader should have ideas like Simon Sinek, the best speaker ever❤❤❤

He's true. It's so easy to pin cushion people into boxes. Rather than go through the hard work, patience, training -- we are quick to judge & write off people. I struggle with it in hiring all the time. Our judgement is based off of our history & experiences. It is immensely valuable. If your gut is telling you something about someone. Or, you're quick to notice certain behaviors / things going on -- you are probably spot on. However, there could be other reasons we aren't thinking about. Did we do our side of the struggle to engage that person, or group. Did we do our very best to see them succeed? Or, was it just easier to write them off...?

EMPHATHY Means wearing the shoes of the other person knowing how he felt about that particular situation that is why it is very important for everyone to acknowledge and RESPECT!

Key point: stop and think first, at all times. That includes political discussions as well

Why should I change myself for my toxic supervisor when she is the problem causing all the toxicity? I’ve tried this but she doesn’t give a hoot 😢

This is an important conversation for the upcoming generation of employees. Your employer is a human.
  • This. ❤️ It’s starts with us…we don’t know what we don’t know. This starts with shutting down errant narratives in our own minds. Be the one who honors, brings change, empowers potential…ongoing pursuits. Mercy and empathy are two way streets. ❤️Human Condition

Simon, there's bosses out there who only empathize for their ultimate benefit. Leaders need to be better, period.

I always ask when a person wants to speak negative about a team member, to tell me three positive things about that person. It’s takes them off guard. Two things I always say… 1. It’s not my story to tell. 2. I refuse to tear down, I’m a builder upper ! 👍🏽👍🏽
  • Hi Simon, i like your insights on human behaviour. I got this at hand: a musician, pianist. Lots of potential, 34 years old, plays it all by ❤ and i mean Rachmaninoff, bach, Beethoven, mozart, Schumann,..... But, and now it comes. He always finds things to boycott himself and blame it on others. I his eyes people want to give him an opportunity and then take it away. Off course, if you invest in someone like that, you as an investor want to see you investment thrive. But the way to that moment is so stressful that enjoying the present moment is not possible anymore. How can this be corrected. So that rehearsal, preparation and delivering is as fun and beautiful as it has to be. Music is supposed to be serious but fun. Now it is a nightmare in elm Street or Belgium. Do you have a view on this kind of .... trouble's? Thanx for your input and keep on doing what you're good in. Greetings from Europe Belgium Belgium
  • The thing is no boss would be watching this or wouldn’t to think to change this.
