John Mayer deserves a late night show where he interviews guests and has impromptu jams with musical guests. I'm even down to portray the role of Ed McMahon in order for this to come to fruition. Themed nights, audience trivia, random giveaways, secret word of the night, album of the month selection, surprise musical colabs, and lastly a JM picked (viewer submitted) picture of the day.
  • I think John Mayer is the guitarist we'd all like to be. He's talented beyond human comprehension. He doesn't take himself too seriously. He's generous with his time and talent. He seems honestly to be interested in helping less gifted musicians along. What a combination of traits!!!

He’s an evangelist: he basically walked away from a pop star career to proselytize the message of the prophet Jerome Garcia. And he does it well.

Jerry is smiling for sure. The force is strong with this young Jedi!!

its cool to see John "get" how Jerry touched us all as he goes with this. Even though we can't all play like this and understand the music theory of it, we all get how different and amazing and heart-felt Jerry's playing was. John is amazing and it's soo cool to watch him practice!

This was really cool for me. I loved the dead. Jerry has always touched me, but I am no musician. I can't tell F sharp from a hole in the wall. Still so interesting to see how the mind of an artist works. My favorite part is how humble John is (just like Jerry was). So much pressure on him to live up to a guitar legend.

John has been listening to Stitch Guitar Method
  • John , thank you for loving the Dead Music and keeping the music alive with Bob . I am 68 yrs old and liked you , but the respect I have for you and the love you have for Hunters writing and Garcia's lead work is fantastic and giving younger folks a chance to get some of the wonderful music the Dead was about , it is alot deeper then folks know and the mix of Cosmic Country vibe with great possitive lyrics this band was trying to put out to the world and folks that followed them a strange but loving community , that some how worked out . Love ya for you're effect to keep , like Uncle NEIL says , keeping the hippie dream alive.
  • It’s so great to see a legend just acting like a regular guy guitar teacher. I feel like I learned a lot just by watching this.

"The way I start is to learn the literal melody of the tune. Then I construct solos as though I’m either playing with it or against it. That’s a pretty loose description, obviously, because there are a lot of other factors involved. Later on I start to see other kinds of connections, but one of my first processes is to learn the literal melody in any position. I am very attracted to melody. A song with a beautiful melody can just knock me off my feet, but the greatest changes on earth don’t mean anything to me if they don’t have a great melody tying them together in some sense."  -   Mr. G
  • We're incredibly lucky to have a musician of this caliber showing us how he practices and showing us tips and tricks. Guitar players of past decades would have loved this

Awesome musician. I didn’t really even know John. When he was on Impractical Jokers, his sense of humor won me over. Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of us! Peace.

Just learned more in the first 5 minutes than my whole past 40 years trying to master this thing. Legend John. Thanks so much! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
  • THIS is why I have to give you maaaaaad props for your work with DnC - you are a true STUDENT of both the instrument and the music. You do your homework, it shows, and you deserve all the credit for doing so.
  • @Jeffrie_Baer
You don't need a haircut. Someone always has to be critical. I appreciate you. So down to earth.
  • @banjobandit3270
I loved watching this. Seeing him put his thought and time into these songs. The contrast to seeing him on stage with eyes closed seemingly not even thinking about it, bit letting the spirit of Jerry and the music just take him on a journey. No thought, just magical playing
  • @MdMaynard
Absolutely beautiful John. Thank you for all the heart you've put into this all these years. It has been such a welcomed pleasure & inspiration. For me, you have absolutely channeled that same energy Garcia put into his music. It's the first I've felt it since he passed. (ps. you made Parish smile also, that says a lot right there.)
  • @trickside1
Sheer brilliance - Can't wait for Playin' in the Sand this year. Thank you John!!
  • @phoenixeyeris
Thanks John. I was fortunate to be at the Eugene Autzen Stadium show in Oregon summer 2018. You killed it bro. Love your playing. I'm always working on my Jerry style riffing so I really appreciate this vid. Cheers!
