FIRST TIME RIDING IN LONDON - RICHMOND PARK LAPS

Published 2023-11-15
What a beautiful day for a ride! I was a bit nervous about riding in London but Richmond Park is fab, so much better than we expected and the Deer were an added bonus!

Thanks for the lovely company - we will have to get another ride in soon, me and Kyle are missing that cafe! (Kyle is now an avocado convert)

It’s taken years but eventually the Richmond Park authorities have barriered off some of the roads there reducing the amount of cars cutting through. This makes it so more enjoyable and safer especially at the weekends. Glad you gave it the thumbs up 👍 as so many complain.

Lovely to see our northern cousins in Richmond Park. Used to ride it regularly and race the cars (much to their surprise) 40 years ago. Loads more cyclists now. Which is a good thing.

That looked like a great low-key ride. You're lucky to have such a community and friends like that.

You said you hoped to inspire at least one person to ride their bike. well you inspired me. just catching up on your past posts. Entered and completed my first sportive two weeks ago. Drove 90 minutes to get there on my own and ,loved every single minute. Poured with rain the whole way round and walked up the last hill with a random bloke but loved it. Thank you for showing your vulnerability - you gave me the confidence I needed. ❤
  • Thanks Amy and Kyle for that few minutes riding together. Your company was great! I'll be glad to show you some tours near Milan when eventually you'll come here! 😉

Brilliant vlog! I was born and brought up in Watford and now live in Halifax so the hills are epic up here! We used to ride loads in Richmond Park and loved it! It’s like a cycling Mecca 🙌👌

  • I use to ride in Richmond Park when I was in the Amy in the 90s when I use to race for the army ... Never seen it like that ever, never seen so many riders ... Love watch you and Kyle, proper inspired by you too 👍😎🚴🚴 keep the vids coming...

Lol, riding on the grass is just what my other half would have done 😂 Nice one Kyle, you got Amy closer to the 🦌🦌 too😊

Great to see you and Kyle in Richmond Park, and it looks like you enjoyed it! I only live a short ride away. Certainly gets busy the weekends, and absolutely heaving in the summer though. I bet you noticed more traffic in London than in Derbyshire? Always some decent people to talk to there too (and the Deer talk back sometimes!). I know of the Moloko riders, as my girlfriend has ridden with them. Lovely people and plenty of chatting. Do visit again when you can..........
  • Richmond Park used to pretty close to me when I lived in Wimbledon, great place to ride and for walks.

Last time I was in Richmond Park was when I worked for RAI and we were filming a "Swan Upping" piece. Great times.

Welcome. I’m about 20 minutes from Richmond Park by bike. It’s great for getting out for a quick spin. Obviously you have seen how popular it gets. Sometimes a little too popular as the traffic does build up. I’d also recommend a trip to Bushy Park, which is a short trip across the river from Richmond Park. There are lots of Fallow and Red deer. It’s mating season, which means that the stags will be rutting. Another plus is fewer cars and it’s flat if you don’t like hills 🙂 although you can’t ride around in circles like you can in Richmond Park
  • Thank you so much again for coming! It was great to see you and do chat - next time we go further! See you soon friends x
