“Footballers have absolutely nothing to gain from taking drugs” former FIFA President Sepp Blatter once said. So why then is there such a history of players taking banned substances?

What is doping? Why does it happen? And what are the highest-profile instances?

2:57 As a Manchester United fan, I can confirm that Fred is currently completely clean, he has had ABSOLUTELY no enhanced performances in the pitch in years.

If Sepp Blatter says anything, isn't the opposite almost automatically true? 🤣

It's the quality and level of research that makes Tifo the best football channel on YouTube

modern football is played at an insane pace and top teams have 2-3 games a week + training. if you don’t believe doping is widespread, you are just naive or ignorant. there is too much money on the line to not use PEDs to get any kind of edge.

It started with a bit of nandrolone and later Guardiola progressed to the really hard stuff like full backs

Pep being banned was a massive story at the time, with him claiming his innocence, and the test results painting a different story.

Thank you. Football fans are completely in denial about this. "No sporting advantage."🤦🏿‍♂️

Nasri and the Drip Doctor, what a day on twitter that was
  • Football's biggest smoking gun is widespread doping. The sheer naivety among fans and people within the game about this is alarming to say the least
  • "because in contrast to other sports, they need a vast array of qualities and skills to succeed in the game" * proceeds to list at least 3 qualities you can absolutely take doping for *
  • @callmewisdom
I love the argument that there is no doping in football because there are just too many atributes needed to be good at it (almost all of which could be enhanced by doping)

It’s incredible the number of 30+ year old players who suddenly become competitive again…
  • @archieman123
Russia at the 2018 WC was soo blatant, running 1-2km more per player than any other team
  • Blood boosters increase the chance that a player suffers a cardiac arrest, quite significantly in fact. That is why when players like Eriksen collapse on the field, with 'no previously known medical conditions' as Spurs had stated, makes it look extremely suspect that he is in fact being doped.
