One of my favorite moments from Hajime no Ippo. I relate to Sendo Takeshi on a spiritual level

This scene doesn't receive as much attention as it deserves. The aftermath of this fight shows the brutal nature of boxing as a sport.

Shigeta and Bryan Hawk are the textbook examples of "Fuck Around and Find Out".

I’m actually glad hajime no ippo is getting popular again I thought it was the end after 2015

For anybody stumbling on this that isn't a fan of Hajime no Ippo: This isn't the protagonist. Every side character in Hajime no Ippo has depth; and unlike most shounen where you're just waiting for the next big fight, there's no down-time. As in nothing feels like it's meant to be filler for the next big fight. Every episode of Hajime no Ippo is enjoyable. People disregard it because they see 'sports', but of the 513 anime series' I've seen, Hajime no Ippo is undisputed for me in terms of fighting.

I want to mention that Sendo's rage is definetely the most dangerous and overall hard-hitting type of rage, no screaming, no unbalanced moves, but a deadly concentration, cold-headed moves, a ruthless mind and this fear-inducing, soul crushing stare, the eyes of a predator dead fixed on his prey, you can't take an advantage of it but you damn sure are going to take these knuckles o' his, he's truly a tiger.
  • Still gives me a chill rewatching this, it was the perfect storm of events that gave a glimpse into Sendo's dark side. Dude is a monster if you take him there
  • The fact he had a good chance of beating sendo till he enraged him by dissing himself and ippo like they said he def had the potential to become a boxing champion but this is life he pretty much got his career destroyed in a sentience
  • @siva6272
he insulted his rivaru so he punctured his liveru
  • @dragunov23
Dude trashed talked about him and his rival. Sendo wounded up killing this dude’s boxing career.

That frame at 1:24 is the single most "oh, he's dead" frames in all of anime
  • "the champion walks up to the challenger, concerned for his safety." "he's become a gentleman, in contrast to his demeanor during the match" "perphaps, he's thanking him for the good fight" My body can't hold that amount of irony... maybe sarcasm.
  • @callmekarasu
I fucking get goosebumps everytime with the "konna monya 👿"
  • Kamogawa should be like, the last guy to diss someone for not throwing the towel 💀
  • You know it’s bad when Kamogowa yells “save your boxer “💀💀💀
  • @FFKonoko
"Blue corner, throw in your towel, save your boxer" Coach, I love you, but you ain't the person to be saying that...

Madhouse struck gold on really capturing how fantastical and almost godlike boxers move in the ring. The build up to Sendo's dash starting at 0:41 is gripping, and his second dash at 1:22 is a animation cut I will never forget for as long as I live. This is all amplified by the unmatched sound design of Masafumi Mima as well, really adding industry leading level of depth to each scene. The visuals couple with jet turbines and highspeed car engines is a match made in heaven. Hajime No Ippo, even after all these years is practically undefeated.
  • i just saw sendo make a parry counter, he's Japan's best featherweight no doubt
