For those requiring a visual, this is a great kit to copy. We found some stainless steel containers that were sold as "bento boxes." at a DIY outlet here in the Philippines. The included snap-on handle made it a decent cooking/water-pasteurizing container. Filled with items similar to what was in this kit, we were happy with the end result. Our little DIY kits would absolutely get you past a rough spot.

Omg the playing cards triggered a memory from the 80’s…we were on a field exercise at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida during a hurricane. Not good for a fair-weather, daytime-only gun system…so we had some down time. No one had money or playing cards but at some point I hear the excited banter of an obvious card game. Wtf? I walk over and see the guys had gotten scrap paper from who knows where and made cards, and were using slivers of pine cones as money! Gotta love a soldier’s ingenuity! 😂😂😂😂

Potassium Permanganate used to be the chemical equivalent of duck-tape, 1001 uses: fire, water, signalling, medical.

“Sweet falsetto voice”🤣😂 I love reviews… My takeaway is to make sure I periodically update my kits… Your deep manly voice and that attractive smile…. Just added perks to this channel that’s so full of much needed survival information… Be safe God bless 🙏🏻😊
  • Best voice on YouTube, hands down🤣. 👍🏽🤘🏽💪🏽🇺🇸

I remember going into Aussie Disposals when I was just a teenager and seeing the "Bob Cooper's survival kit" drooled over that $60 thing and thinking I could survive anything 😅 Looked exactly like this too

Thanks for the video. I have used the military version of this kit and had the great experience of doing one on Bob's advanced courses in the Pilbara. He teaches many other skills as you might imagine. We lived for 3 days off the land using the civvie version of the kit, basically the same. Well considered and repeatedly tested and used in the outback, a good kit. The knife in my original tin was Smith & Wesson, I think they still are same manufacturer, but unbranded. One or two issues:- the tin leaks, or did, don't know if that's been fixed. You will need to use another container if you want a hard container. These days I just keep a metal bottle and nesting cup on my belt, and the kit contents modified for me are distributed through my pockets. The Condy's crystals can be used as an alternative to bleach / chloride tabs for water purification. Also good as a disinfectant. Bob used to joke the cards were the most important thing in the kit as he guaranteed if you started playing Patience/Solitaire, it would be no more than 15 mins before you heard a voice say "Red 10 on the black Jack".

Safe travels home, and pleasure meeting you. This weekend at the basic class

Bob still sells that as a civilian version and is the kit you get if you do one of his courses. So good to see that he practices what he preaches in use of kit.

Awesome little kit. Plenty of room in there for water purification tablets, a small Bic lighter, etc when you take the papers and cards out.

You can still buy these from adventure stores here in Australia, the new version. They are about 70 - 90 AUD. Hello from the Blue Mountains on the outskirts of Sydney and thanks for the review.
  • That orange whistle is one of the best I have used for survival or day to day purposes while solo ocean sailing.

On one channel, a woman showed how waterproof a unlit matchsticks by applying some nail vanish to half the length, then putting it in water. After that process, she lit the match and worked. Good job from her.
  • A sewing tip: it can be difficult to get a needle through thick fabric. Use your leatherman pliars to get a good grip on it. I find much easier to get the needle through the fabric this way.

reminiscent of the pocket kits we carried in the 80's that were based on the Royal Marines Commandos kits. Fit in an Altoids tin or more commonly a PX soap dish, which were a little larger. We used a large rubber band around the outside to keep it from self-destructing in the jungle/water/airborne ops. I love how things have become so much smaller since then, and the added small multitool. I have several Gerbers from knife kits that have found their way into my pocket kits.

Those boullion cubes will be just fine as long as you make your soup with BOILING water , they do go soft and mushy but are still perfectly edible as long as you use boiling water. That tin can be used to make char cloth and you should magnatise your sewing needles so you can use them as a compass.
  • You could make char cloth with that tin too. Love your videos! Thanks for keeping them coming!!😎🇺🇸🦅👊
