I can’t stand Paul F’baum, but he’s right about this one. The Gators can’t afford to lose this game with their schedule. Miami has by far the easiest schedule, so they can’t afford to lose this game either. You’re absolutely right, the loser of this games mental state is going to be severely damaged, and will be hard to overcome, especially for the Gators.
  • Gators o line going to have to hold Miami d line all night. Watch 😂😂😂😂😂

Miami comes in swinging this year 35-17 Miami wins.

I think this is more of a "must win" for uf. Miami can afford to lose this game IF they don't get embarrassed and can learn enough from the loss to end up with 9 or 10 wins.
  • Can't WAIT for me some College Football J.D... Got about 2 mo 2 wks!!! HOOKEM ALL Y'ALL

We beat Florida by 17 and that's if we start slow. It could get real ugly I think. I'm not a Kool aid sipper by no means, but I really think 11-1 or 12-0 is very doable with this schedule.
  • Miami is in the gator history books who gave the gators worst beaten at the swamp it's in gators history

Florida is the most underrated team in college football . They will be very good this year

As a Florida fan I think this is the most important game of the season for Florida. Miami is nowhere near the toughest team we have to face and if we lose to them at home it’s just the start of an increasingly tougher road.

UF will likely face four or five opponents in '24 that are more proven and at least as talented as UM. If UF can't beat this potentially good but probably not great UM team at home - with the future of the program on the line, Billy's situation could go south quickly. Conversely, Miami can get their butts handed to them in the Swamp and still be in the POs with this schedule. The only scenario in which Mario doesn't survive '24 is if UF embarrasses UM and the canes then go on to lose 3 or 4 more games and look really bad in the process. I don't think that happens for a number of reasons, but I do believe that it could. Meanwhile, UF fans will learn a lot about the validity of the "creating a culture" approach BN is employing in Gainesville. I think it's fair to say that UM has had at least a moderate advantage in overall recruiting in the current era but have not done so well holding on to a sizable portion of that excellent recruiting haul. BN, on the other hand, has managed to retain the vast majority of his HS recruits. We're about to find out if the "stronger" HS recruit retention rate at UF translates into a tighter, more deeply committed locker room that delivers victories against equally or more talented teams with less demonstrated cohesion/unity/time together as a unit. It will be interesting, to say the least.

miami..42-20 yr 3 of mario …huge leap…cam ward is special
  • Yes, Billy has said that this is finally is his team and his program. Nobody else to blame if things don't work. But even a great team and program do not guarantee success, if their coach can't actually win a game on the field. The Gators "should" beat Miami. If they don't, it's time for Billy to go right then and there.
  • If you look at the other games slatted for that week, FL vs Miami has the most taking points and scenarios for the talking heads to drool over. In that way, this may be the most important game in week 1. Sure, other games may have talking points but there is enough material here to keep network broadcasts alive all on it's own.
  • Errrr what about how the lose or win. You play to overtime and it’s very different than being blown out
