There’s no denying that Anna Wintour has done more than change Vogue magazine; she’s had a massive impact on the fashion industry. But although her career looks impressie at first glance, when you take a closer look you’ll realize she hasn’t always been a resounding success. The life story of this fashion icon is fascinating, even the part where she was let go from Harper’s Bazaar after only nine months of employment. Although she had two children, Bee Shaffer and Charles Shaffer with her first husband, David Shaffer, she went on to marry Shelby Bryan, which caused no small amount of controversy. And speaking of controversy, we’ll also talk about her impact on the fur industry and the decision to put Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover. The Devil Wears Prada made her a household name overnight but not in the best way. In fact, the industry seems pretty split on people who think she’s done incredible work to those who think she’s everything that’s wrong with the fashion industry.

What do you think about the woman many people call “Nuclear Wintour?” Do you think she deserves her icy cold reputation or is there more to her than most people see? I personally don't believe that is possible to get to where she's at without having to be a little cold hearted.
  • @somewhat9626
She looks like she has been that age all her life.

Let's be real here. The fashion industry is all about connections and that's what Anna mastered.
  • She always wears sunglasses because she feels more confidant behind them. And if no one can see facial expressions then no one can become familiar with you.

Wow she doesn't have a college degree or a fashion degree...wonder if she has ever hired anyone without those...🤔

"Anna runs the business (Vogue) very well, but not the fashion part. When I see how she is dressed, I don't believe in her tastes one second," - Alaia .

It’s all about connections. That’s how she got her foot in the door.

She strikes me as a woman that knows what she wants and doesn’t have time to waste.
  • She was wealthy and connected, that’s how she was able to get the experience that set her up for success.

The fact she’s able to get up at 4:30AM to play tennis, get hair and makeup ready before work and go to bed by 10:15 really blows my mind 🤯
  • People talk so much about how she dresses and how she lacks creativity but no one stops to think that, that is her personal style. If you were to be in any location, you would immediately recognize her on the spot for her specific presentation of self (as long as you know who she is). It's genius. Also, in the fashion industry, her own personal choice of style for herself, she does NOT limit to the rest of the fashion industry. Everything you see published by vogue is ultimately run by her, based on the subject, looks, etc. If she were really so limited in just her own style, all you would see on the cover of a vogue magazine would just be women and men dressed like her.

anna despite her not wanting to be in her father's shadow, it was her father's connections that help her achieve that position! and to be in fashion and the entertainment world you need to be heartless!
  • @hajeraa
she came out in privilege and had a lot of ressources. people overhyped her journey. Obviously she did amazing and gave so much for fashion but still...

That hair cut was introduced by Vidal Sassoon in the late 60’s. Everyone that went into his salon came out with the same cut regardless of your type of hair or whether you owned a hair blower.

Her father had a nickname as well. Chilly Charlie. Apparently he didn't have the warmest personality either.

"I think everyone should be fired"...yes a millionaire, a person who has never experienced poverty or even a middle class life would say that. Imagine saying that to a person who's entire living depends on that one job.
  • @jenniferm1293
If she was a man she would been seen as innovative and go getting. People find ambitious single minded women outside the norm which is a shame.
  • "She liked her men older and well connected", and that is how she did it.

I feel like she’s THAT person in your class that talks back to the teacher
