The way we shape economic and financial policies have been influenced over centuries. There are numerous factors that shape how economies are built. But is religion one of them? It’s undeniable that religion has shaped how we think about finance and economics till this day? Some of the things we take for granted today were in fact influenced by religion. In this video, I wanted to take a deep dive into how religion actually impacted economies over time.

Some books worth reading on the subject by economist Michael Hudson, who has extensive academic background in economic systems, debt and trade in the ancient world (despite his political biases especially when discussing the modern economic system, as seen in his best work "Killing the host" (2015)): The Collapse of Antiquity: Greece and Rome as Civilization's Oligarchic Turning Point (2023) Temples of Enterprise: Creating Economic Order in the Bronze Age Near East (2024) Urbanization and Land Ownership in the Ancient Near East (1999)
