Because of the graininess of some of the 1970s car commercials being old, we’ll start with some pictures and some nice clear footage of the car before we get into each commercial to appreciate the beauty of these cars in high definition. If you grew up during this era, hopefully, it brings back some good memories when times were simpler.

The father in the camaro commercial is actor Lloyd bridges, father of jeff and beau bridges. He was on a TV show called sea hunt, and also in the movie Airplane. Famous actor.

I was born in 1975 and I remember these cars on the road and the awesome commercials that went with them. One of my earliest memories is my mom bringing home a brand new fire engine red Datsun/Nissan 280 ZX turbo with t tops and a 5 speed. It became my car way down the road. We loved that car. EVERYONE made a comment on it wherever we went. I know that every generation thinks they were the best, but I TRULY miss the simplicity of the 70's and 80's.
  • Number 1 ! 1970 Torino ! My favorite car ! Yes I have one ! Thrilled to see the commercial for the first time . Thanks for sharing !

35 mpg back in the 70s, and we think we've come so far since then.

Left off the list was arguably the greatest car commercial of all time, the one for the 1975-1976 Chrysler Cordoba.

I had one of those 70 Camaros. I bought it in 1977, so it wasn't very old. But, the way they built cars back then, it was already an "old" car. I paid $700 for it. It burned a quart of oil every hundred miles. Rusty pieces of the body fell off after every pot hole. The electrical system failed regularly. I didn't need the key to turn the ignition; a screwdriver did the job nicely. At $700, I may have over paid! But I was a kid. I loved it anyway.

How dare they call that piece of crap a Charger Daytona...
  • @bensprinks
They missed the 71 Hemi Cuda. EPA made sure things went hell after 71.
  • The Cop in the first Commercial sure was the Role Model for Smokey and the Bandit's Beaufort T. Justice. Nr. 9 Loyd Bridges drivin the Chevy.
  • @sgrowe56
In the 1970 Camaro commercial, I think the Dad is played by the famous actor Lloyd Bridges.

Well done vid. Good stuff. The archival footage was clearer than expected 👍🏽

The 70’s, when cars were cars and women proudly kept their welcome mats
  • The Torino was beautiful. Amazing the technology difference from 1970 to the Z280 in 78. Night and day
  • @oi32df
Certain that after seeing a '76 'colonnade' Charger, a Camaro with ugly wheel covers , whitewall tires and a roof rack is almost beautiful.
  • I was a kid in the 70's and knew every car on the road. 60's Muscle cars ruled, and we all wanted one by the eighties to drive. Never left me, as I now have a Boss and Z06. Thankfully muscle came back in 2000's :-)
