I'm making another Grandchild Quilt! If you remember the paper pieced hexagon quilt I made for Agnes who is now 4, then you'll know that I don't mind how long projects like these take me!
This is a 2 inch, 60' diamond paper template and all the fabrics will be Liberty Tana Lawn which is not only beautiful to work with but comes in such delicious patterns and colours. I bought my extra Liberty at last year's Festival of Quilts from a number of different suppliers. The papers are from Lina Patchwork.
Let's see how long this one takes to finish!

Every week I make extra content for my Patrons who support this channel. The latest video on Friday was all about my daughter in law Anna's obsession with Liberty Hexagons. you can catch up with that and all the other content I make for the price of a craft magazine over here

There is content right back to the start of 2019! Look for the feature 'Collections' to help you find what you'd enjoy most.
YouTube content is always free to view, but if you enjoy The Last Homely House you might enjoy settling down on the Patreon end of The Lime Green Sofa?

Over in my shop you'll find some things that might inspire your next project. Once a month I make a charity donation with Ad Revenue from my YouTube channel. Watching those ads benefits so many charities! So sign up to the newsletter to discover who it will be this month.

  • Hi Kate I just wanted to let you know that you feel like an adopted grandmother to me in a way. I'm 20 and I've watched nearly all of your videos on both channels and I've been watching for a few years now. They're comforting and it feels like I get to learn skills from someone who cares and I appreciate you. Thank you ❤

Hello, I'm Zelda from Australia. Seeing you reminds me of my mom; we used to sew together. Thank you for your channel, you feel like family.

I'm from Missouri. And it's exactly because of the sun and the room and the cat and your calming voice that I started watching. It's so much like joining my grandma in her sewing room. Just stitching and talking about whatever comes up. It's something desperately needed and welcome here! Thank you so much for sharing you!
  • Hello Kate, i’m from Brazil. My name is Anna and I just turned 18 and I started my first quilt this august at 17. I’m making it for my grandmother as a gift, I’m also adding embroidering. Since it is my very first quilt it has been quite a challenge, but I have been enjoying every step of the way. And it will be all worth it when I see a smile on my grandmother’s face.
  • I live 15 miles due west from O'Hare Airport in the far NW suburban Chicago. inspired by Kate to take up paper piecing and other projects. I am an artist who paints mostly watercolor and love to do watercolor on canvas, I have watched Kate the English Paper Piecing Queen for years. I have an indented spot on the lime green sofa.
  • I'm Diana from Nebraska. I'm a 70-year old grandmother of 12 and I have 3 fur-babies of the feline persusion, too! 🙂 I also am interested in everything....I garden, do photography, make my own soap, knit, crochet, embroider, and just recently started quilting. I love your channels, Kate! You appear to be 100% authentically yourself, which draws people to you. Watching your videos is like sitting down with an old friend for a chat, over a cup of tea. You make everyone feel welcome and included, which I appreciate!

Kate. Use green will look like leaves for flower stars
  • I started quilting at age 8 with my Irish grandmother. My first projects were all EPP. We used my dad's shirt cardboards for the templates and newspaper for the papers, and the fabric we used was cut up clothing. My grandmother insisted on 11 stitches to the inch. Those hexagons were hard work and i didn't like it. Now at age 75, after quilting all my life, I'm trying EPP again. And now I'm enjoying the process. I love your soothing, calm, relaxing videos. No glue for me...I hand baste. I'm still sewing and knitting and teach collage quilting at my local shop here in AZ. I also lead a group of quilters who "think outside the box". I hope to start an EPP class soon and will definitely recommend your videos. Thanks Kate.
  • Hello Kate, discovered your channel at 2:00 am this morning, July 13th, 2024. I finally fell asleep inspired to try something new, so later in the day I rummaged through my fabric and then dashed to our local fabric store to top up what I needed and I'm off o a bew project. Thank you for tge lively visit From Bowmanville, Ontario Canada. Cheers.

Hello from Alaska. I know this video is 4 months old, but I have stumbled upon your channel recently as I have just discovered the wonderful craft of English Paper Piecing. Better late than never I say!! I love all your EPP videos. You are a wonderful teacher and I truly love your soothing tone of your voice. It is very relaxing to sit and listen to you talk, whether it be about sewing, family or life in general. I look forward to watching your future videos on the projects you have begun or are thinking about doing. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your love of sewing and life. Cheers!!

It’s so important to let people how they make a positive difference in our lives. I am older and depression has hit me which slows or stops my progress on my projects such as quilting and crocheting but with Kat in my life it help me feel better. Yes there is a sort of comfort there that pulls me through. I want to say Thank you Kate you are a blessing to me. I truly enjoy your videos.
  • Hi Kate, I am so so happy I found your site, my mom was British and lived in London until she came to Canada as a war bride. She has moved to heaven now but these videos remind me so much of her. She taught me the joy of stitching and knitting and all things wonderful. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
  • You are realy inspiring me. Have not done quilt since school. Now i am 59. I Think I want to give it a go 🥰
  • There is no time limit on any project - it needs to be something that makes ur heart sing - before , during and forever after its 'done'
  • @marjiscriven9657
I’m Marji from California and I’m 72 next month. I just found your channel a few weeks ago and started watching. I have had a bit of a hiatus from sewing as we’re going through my mom’s stuff. Between your videos and my niece organizing my sewing, I’m inspired to start back. Originally, I started with hand piecing and I think I’ll go back to that. Thank you!
  • Dear mrs Kate, how nice that Rita came for a cameo! I'm sewing the last bit of binding on my Grandmothers Flowergarden quilt. My two cats are always with me when I'm sewing. So the next project will be a little quilt for my cats. For you and all the people on the lime green sofa a warm hallo from The Netherlands.
  • I’m watching from very hot hot south Florida, USA. Atlantic side. Great to stay in my air conditioning and slow stitch! I’m making a rap around robe printed with large peacocks.
