Love this song, Johnny Lang doesn't get near the recognition he deserves

Great, informative tutorial, Michael. I haven't heard this song in awhile. I was just doing random searches and came across this. I played bass on this album and Jonny's "Wander This World" album. He was 15 when we cut this....17 or 18 on the next. Amazingly talented! An Old Soul definitely lives in him. The energy/passion you see in this video is exactly what he is in the studio. Two of the most enjoyable albums I've ever played on.

He was 16 when he made this album!!

I have only been left awestruck, floored, mesmerized, and captivated all at the same by 2 musicians when I saw them play live. Jonny Lang and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Jonny’s an appreciative, humble gifted vocalist and guitarist. I’ve seen him twice at the Schemerhorn in Nashville and he wails live. I’ve heard he cancelled some dates due to problems with his voice. Get well Jonny, we all want to see you performing again soon!

People don’t understand that this kid was 17 when he wrote these songs and played these amazing solos
  • @khund03
All these years later, and this still gives me chills...... I've seen this kid/guy in concert at least 10x's and he never fails to inspire or impress!!! \m/

I was 7 when this album came out and Jonny was everywhere lol He was the soul inspiration for me to become a guitarist and I even grew my hair like his lol

I don’t think this CD has been out of my vehicle since I bought it in 1997. Don’t get me wrong—I love new music and seek it out daily, but this album is a personal classic.

I have Johnny Lang since he started singing! AMAZING!
  • I saw Jonny Lang repeatedly as a 7-8 year old, mostly in small bars and clubs in the Pittsburgh area. I'll never forget leaving and seeing him getting onto his bus. My dad was so starstruck that he had his camera in his hand, and shook Jonny's hand with the other. He still talks about missing the opportunity to get a picture all these years later. Another fun fact, Jonny shook with his left hand not his right. We didn't know if he had a reason or if it was just a spontaneous mixup, but I remember it being different. Love your videos Michael, love seeing my childhood brought up again.
  • Seen Jonny many times live and met him last year. He's one of the reasons I play guitar! Thanks for the video, would love to see you do Tyler Childers Shake The Frost!

Have always loved this song, what a freaking groove. Remember hearing it in a very rock/blues dead time in like 1998 and was like "holy crap man this is a fun tune"

So glad you found Jonny Lang. My hubby and I love his music. I've seen 14 of his concerts (one with Sting and Kep Mo in Chicago's outside Grant Park). He signed one of my guitars - I met Jonny 4 times after concerts. He is super nice and kind to his fans. Discovered him when the Blues Brothers 2000 movie came out in 1998 - Jonny is the Custodian performing in 634-5789 at end of movie. A must see. More Jonny Lang tunes I enjoy are: We Are The Same, A Quitter Never Wins, I am (written by Prince), Still Rainin', Wander This World, Make It Move, 1997 version of Lie To Me (at age 16), and many more! You might also enjoy his CD 'LIve at the Ryman Auditorium' (in Nashville, TN). I blast it when I'm out driving around.

Great tune for a 16 year old guitar player of only 3 years... always dug on J Lang, I just never understood how a kid of his age could understand love and relationships quite as much as he did.

We saw Jonny in a free concert in Snowmass Colorado ten years ago. He was SO much fun to watch and hear. And the band was Killer'. He had a B3 guy who smoked everything and a second guitar player who was about as good as Jonny. I was impressed with how hard Lang worked. and how committed he was, a truly excellent show, away above the norm. I hope he's still doing well. Touring is tough.
  • Glad you explained what the Wah Pedal does. This Song always reminded me of Guitarist Mick Ronson playing on the Moonage Daydream Solo Love this Jonny Lang Song. That Voice That Guitar. That Ronson Guitar Outro Guitar Solo sings to me
