I swear. I will protect Raul with my life. He's so perfect. I'm coming for the 2 people who disliked this.
  • It's been 15 years since his run of Company, but the way Raul sings the word "alive" hasn't changed and still sends shivers down my spine. This is probably my favorite performance out of this whole production and that's saying something. Bravo.

This interp is magnificent. He acts the song appropriately for the time we're living thru - offering humor (somewhere I can walk for miles) and pathos (such a lovely world we'll weep). I thought this was one of the most successful song of the broadcast - well sung, well acted, well lit, and scaled for a screen. I was very moved.

I'm so obsessed with this man that it's unhealthy Also, lyrics: Let me see the world with clouds Take me to the world Out where I can push through crowds Take me to the world A world of skies That's bursting with surprise To open up my eyes for joy Take me to the world that's real Show me how it's done Teach me how to laugh, to feel Move me to the sun Just hold my hand whenever we arrive Take me to a world where I can be alive Let me see the world that smiles Take me to the world Somewhere I can walk for miles Take me to the world With all around things growing in the ground Where birds that make a sound are birds We shall see the world come true We shall have the world I won't be afraid with you We shall have the world I'll hold your hand and know I'm not alone We shall have the world to keep Such a lovely world we'll weep We shall have the world forever for our own

For some reason the line " Where birds that make a sound.. are birds " makes me cry every single time. The genius of Sondheim, and a perfect song for our times

c'mon Raul - i've been riding out this pandemic alone for months...the last thing I need is a beautiful man singing so beautifully. with those eyes, it looks like you're singing directly to me. you're quite extraordinary!

THIS is all the proof needed to show that an artist only needs the talent, love of the lyrics and music and his own sheer joy to bring a song to life. He could do this in a phone booth! Beautiful!

A quiet morning, a moment of pause, then I find this. It's a wool blanket, a warm cup of broth, a realization of hope. Talent that truly leaves me speechless, and with a tear in my eye.

I’m not a big fan of male singers. But I fell in love with this guy after seeing him in company years ago. Not many guys can interpret like he does. Listen to his “marry me a little”. It’s wonderful. Or his “hallelujah “.
  • @slichvid
C’mon, this is a triple Wow! The whole Sondheim at 90 ensemble is supremely talented, but in this case Raul is simply untouchable. Listen to his initial frailty, then expanded phrasing and climactic ending. I’m on my 6th listen so far and it’s still fresh. BTW, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Sondheim performance also is wonderful.

It's August and I'm still watching this pretty much every day.

The talent in this man makes me shiver

Raul sings from the heart. Beautiful performance.💞🎶💗

Barba baby, Barba bubbe. The most incredible, moving interpretation of this song. Tears at my heart. Breaks it, then repairs it. Sondheim prefers actors who can sing vs. singers who can act. This proves him correct.
  • @setoishot
This song is just the embodiment of a warm hug. I love him so much.
