This isn’t a case of copying but this does prove the point that K-pop is not always Korean music it’s just music in Korea. Which doesn’t take away anything because I’ll still jam out but K-pop takes a lot of inspiration from other cultures

I honestly just find it ironic due to the fact their fandoms were the same people saying to “keep k-pop korean” but don't blink an eye when their favs release a song using similar astributes to the people they were just hating on.

This comment section is bothering me. There seems to be a large misunderstanding as to what’s happening. All black fans did was point out that Smart was clearly inspired by Tyla’s water. (This is due not only to the genre itself, but the fact the outfits were similar, they did the same dance move she did, and they even changed their accent.) That’s it. No one is upset, nor are they claiming that it’s plagiarism. A lot of kpop fans don’t realize that kpop since its inception has been inspired by black culture, and so black kpop fans were simply making an observation that Water’s popularity is the newest inspiration. They’re also pointing out how silly these fans look when they’re being racist to that black model by saying "keep kpop korean", and here goes that same kpop group that they’re a fan of mimicking a black artist.

I think people when mostly upset about the whole keep K-pop Korean comments under the black models post only for them to release a song using an African sound and suddenly the keep K-pop Korean girlies are nowhere to be seen

It's so funny cuz afrobeat isn't only used by African artists or what netizens think it is. Just because it's not common in the kpop Industry doesn't mean it's not there.

When I see comments like this,I know that whoever is saying this thinks Africa is a country😂That all music from Africa is Afrobeats 😂That Amapiano and Bacardi is the same thing😂And that Amapiano and Afrobeats are the same thing😂Twerking is Bacardi😂💀. So basically uncultured. All of these things,friends,are not the same. K-pop fans need to realise that there are actual people and cultures attached to dance styles, music genres etc. And in you trying to defend your faves by saying that people from the countries of origin of the genres of the music/dance that your faves are COPYING weren't the pioneers of that musical genre or style is cultural erasure. Tyla isn't the pioneer of Amapiano or Bacardi dance(or music)and she never claimed to be. She did however tell you that her genre is Pop-piano which a fusion of a genre of music called AMAPIANO(from her,country South Africa: SPOILER - She is South African and knows more about South African genre than the average K-pop fan does). She even told you all that the dance move in "Water" is called Bacardi and not twerking so that you didn't run with the idea of twerking and therefore erase Bacardi culture. YOU have to do your own due diligence. And while doing that,do not attack someone for doing a genre that is from their own culture and saying "she didn't come up with it" , "it's been around for ages." Obviously she didn't come up with it,but it's HER CULTURE. She can do it and use it however dhe wants. And she has done well to popularize Bacardi dance and Amapiano music globally. Which is what Amapiano DJs have always wanted. HOWEVER,they want collaboration and not imitation. Which is why Amapiano DJs and producers work with international DJs like your Diplos and with artists like Davido. Because they need to be involved in the genre of thrir country. What K-pop fails to do is collaborate with African producers when copying African sounds which is why it'll never hit the same way. The same way as when other African countries also produce Amapiano without South African producers. So the toxic stans saying that it should not matter that there was no African in the production of "Smart" because Tyla didn't have any South African producers. Are you Okay? Tyla is South African. And she has been doing Pop infused with Amapiano since her first single "Getting Late" in 2020. She is the South African in the studio😂Also,a Ghanaian producer was present so you are also misinformed.
