So sad, he sings of peace for all, yet killed by a gunman. I always shed a tear on this one.
  • @lisarainbow9703
Perhaps one of the most important songs ever written ~ 🎶✌
  • "I still haven't heard a Beatles song". Oh man, you still have such a wonderful journey ahead of you. Have fun with it.
  • My mom begged me to make sure this was played her funeral and I kept my word. Love this song!

Without wanting to overstate the facts, you will never understand the history and development of popular music until you get to grips with The Beatles. Look at how basic things were in 1962 when they picked up the baton and soon established themselves as trailblazers, how they rapidly developed the genre throughout the mid-1960s, and how in 1969 they disbanded, leaving popular music almost unrecognisable from what it had been a mere 7 years earlier.

This needs to be played all around the world now to still powerful today
  • Young man, I am so sorry. We had that, all of it, peace, acceptance, love, borders, religion, skin color, accent, ... It all meant nothing to us, we were hippies. Peace love and acceptance was our motto. I raised all my boys that way and they are with Wonderful women of all shades, whom I love like daughters. I'm sorry you missed it son. You would have fit in my family so easily. And yes I am a Caucasian sister.... Like I said before.... It didn't matter. Keep going on your journey and I will be proud to watch you explore some of the best music and nicest people you'll ever know.

All the things he's asking us to imagine living without are all the things that cause war. The older i get the harder it becomes to imagine.
  • Congratulations! You've officially listened to the greatest piece of music ever made!

My favorite Beatle. This song was so inportant when it came out. I still remember sitting in my room listening to the radio and they announced that John had been killed by gun shots. I immedialtly started to cry. I was 10 and I will never forget that moment😢 RIP Mr. Lennon you are truly missed❤
  • Very very interesting to see someone react to John Lennon’s Imagine when they don’t know anything about him or The Beatles. Come back to this song in your life and you will see that John was right. The song is simple, but it speaks to the most profound themes of humanity. This is a message of love, and it is strong, brave, and true.

Be Prepared, once you start down the Beatles rabbit hole there's no stopping. IMO the Greatest Rock band EVER. ❤
  • Everyone here who was born before the mid-70s will be able to describe in perfect detail where they were when John Lennon was shot on 8 December 1980. What a tragic loss. Elton John write a song after John Lennon’s death called Empty Garden, and it’s a masterpiece. You should check it out!

My favorite song of all time. I was crushed when he was assassinated. The Beatles were my 1st favorite band. My Grandma gave me my 1st Beatles album when i was 3.

John Lennon October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980. The Beatles broke up in late 1969. Their last performance was on the roof on the recording studio. On 30 January 1969, the Beatles performed an impromptu concert from the rooftop of their Apple Corps headquarters at 3 Savile Row, in central London's office and fashion district. Joined by guest keyboardist Billy Preston, the band played a 42-minute set before the Metropolitan Police arrived and ordered them to reduce the volume. It was the final public performance of their career. They performed nine takes of five new songs as crowds of onlookers, many on lunch breaks, congregated in the streets and on the rooftops of nearby buildings to listen. The concert ended with "Get Back", and John Lennon joking, "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we've passed the audition."
  • Such a simple, beautiful song. For more John Lennon, I suggest "Instant Karma".

I love John Lennon. He is the reason I learned to play the piano back in the 60s. A gifted artist gone too soon. Chapman got his autograph one afternoon and went back and shot him dead that night. Sick, demented person.

Loved the Beatles & John Lennon's songs when he went solo in 1970. "Imagine" is one of his most beautiful hits. But he recorded a lot of other great songs such as "Give Peace A Chance", "Instant Karma!", "Mother", "Working Class Hero", "Power To The People", "Woman", "Jealous Guy", "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night", "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)", "Watching The Wheels" etc.
