When I saw this in IMAX Thursday, there was a old man crying near me during the wormrider scene, he said read the first dune back in the 60s and he was so grateful to have lived long enough to see Paul ride the sandworm in a way he envisioned his entire life, he waited almost 60 years to see this scene....This is how you do a scene justice.

In an imax theater, you could hear the difference in sound when he was pounding the sand for a good spot.

This scene was insane in theaters. Every time the worm smashed through the sand you could feel it in your seat and through the floor. When Paul was struggling to get his hooks in, the rumbling was present even in the air, and when the sound becomes muffled and he finally stands you feel fully locked in with him. The sound design of this movie is incredible and makes a high quality theater experience feel like you're actually there
  • I love how you can read the Fremen's reactions as the sandworm appears. They ride the sandworms often and know well how to handle them. But the moment the Fremen get a glimpse of THIS sandworm, they know that it is far, far bigger than any first-time Rider should handle. It's a true Grandfather Worm, the pinnacle of its species and the most dangerous predator in the desert, and they respond with fear for Paul/Maud'dib.

Fremen grandpa: Back in my day when we had to take the worm to school.

Now this is how you do a scene from a book justice....
  • Casting Christian Bale as the sand worm was a bold choice but I think we can all agree he nailed it

Seeing this on IMAX was sublime. The moment when the music hits as Paul rises to his feet on the sandworm is something I will never forget. Absolute chills

i love the little details like the fact that there are no worms answering the call right away. The desert is too quiet. In the books they say they are territorial creatures. You can sense a bit of a tension because it means that there is a big one around that scared off the "little" ones. Also they say that only the big ones travel this deep and it is so well represented here too. like a giant whale coming on the surface to breathe. Amazing.
  • The camera man is the real champ. Hes holding on without hooks and holding the camera!!!
  • @greecoboost
They really did the sandworm justice here, showing off the incredible magnitude of these enormous creatures. The effect will only be amplified on a proper theater sound system.
  • @CarlsWheezing
They definitely made the right choice pushing this scene out early. That was intense, chills.

    3:25....ahhh man what a fantastic shot "Hey mua'dib....dont embarrass us...call a big one"..😂😂
  • @shaunbang
Imagine the first fremen that decided one day to try riding a worm lol that person must’ve been insane
  • @kevinquinn7645
Usul has called a big one. Once more it is the legend.
  • @BM-pg3bg
Doesn’t even come close to how epic it is in the theaters. The bass is literally shaking you like you’re on the worm. The whole movie was surreal, like you were in another world observing real events.
  • I watched that in the IMAX today and it was AMAZING. Can you imagine that, in a few years, someone will watch that on an airplane, on a tiny screen, with shitty earphones? I get angry just thinking about that. It just hits different with the right setup.
  • As I watch this, I feel some sadness, as my mother will never get to see it. She was as much a fan of Dune as I am, but sadly, she passed on last September. Even if the film had been released on its original date, it would have been to late for her to see it. She did get to see Part One as I bought the DVD as a Christmas present for her, and we both sat and watched it a few times. So when Part Two comes out, I'll watch it knowing how much she would have enjoyed it.
