Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley Impersonate Each Other

Published 2020-07-01
Did you know that Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash used to impersonate each other.
The rare footage included dates back to a 1959 tour. Cash was the opening act; Presley, the headliner; and each night, "Cash would impersonate his friend and touring partner, and then Elvis would come out and do the same. An audio recording of Presley imitating Johnny Cash at the International Hotel showroom in Las Vegas is also included.
Unfortunately, there is no video footage available of Elvis performing his impressive impressions of Johnny Cash. However, an expressive audio performance of Elvis Live onstage in Las Vegas is included. Only the select few who attended were fortunate enough to view this spectacular spectacle.
Special thanks to DJ Dallas for inspiring me to make this video and researching the rare footage!!

I can only image the phone calls between these two joking about who did it better. What a pair of legends
  • Johnny being Elvis was HYSTERICAL! Who knew Cash had so much hip movement in him! Too bad no live footage of E doing J. Great vid.

Johnny Cash, what a legend. Despite everything he went through in his life, he never lost his sense of humour. I was astounded how much Elvis sounded like him.

Let’s just say this, Johnny definitely had the moves here and Elvis had the voice 😂
  • It shows how incredibly talented both these guys were. They both did about the best impersonation of each other I've ever heard.
  • Johnny swaying his hips and then yelling in pain about took me out😂😂😂😂😂

When I heard Elvis laugh during “I Walk the Line” I laughed along because I could picture and see Elvis’ sweet and funny smile! I know when he laughs during a song, it’s always adorable yet hilarious!

I honestly had no idea how much they loved each other. They were really good friends. On music Elvis was spot-on. it's hard not to impersonate Elvis without some physical comedy

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery is a proverb that means trying do what someone else does, is a compliment to that person.

Both Johnny and Elvis were such good natured people and naturally funny...

I thought Elvis did the better impression, but Johnny Cash was mostly going for laughs
  • Elvis is STILL legend! I'm 25, and my buddies and I STILL blast Elvis around the bonfire! Our generation still has hope folks!
  • Elvis laughing as he is doing Johnny Cash is just brilliant. So sad these two greats of those long gone Sun studio sessions are no longer with us. ❤️

I laughed so hard because Elvis was changing the lyrics and it totally worked in the song. I wasn’t born yet when this came out but my father who’s been gone a long time now used to sing Johnny Cash to me when I was a kid. Reminds me of my youth. RIP to two legends who’ve shaped music as we know it today.

  • I laughed and laughed to see video of Johnny Cash, looked like he hurt his back trying to do Elvis. Funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time!
